Argha Chakraborty is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Mohun Bagan A.C. in the I-League.
Career
[edit]Argha started his career at the Mohun Bagan SAIL Football Academy. He was in the Academy from 2007 to 2009, during which time he was part of the squad which won a couple of tournaments, Hindmotor Cup and Sukna Gold Cup. In Hindmotor Cup, the academy boys defeated East Bengal and Argha received Man of the Match in one of the games.
In 2010, Argha joined Peerless where he played for 1-1/2 years. During the 2nd window in 2011, he moved to Mumbai based I-League 2nd Division team Kenkre F.C.. He got selected in the Santosh Trophy for Maharashtra football team. Though he has played mostly as wing half throughout his career, Argha played in striker in few games for the first time in Santosh Trophy, where he scored 2 goals.
He switched over to Rangdajied United F.C. 2012-13 season. Argha played many games in the I-League 2nd Division and helped his team to qualify for the I-League. Argha missed the last 5 games of the tournament due to his graduation exam. He played both as wing half and striker while in Rangdajied. He was called for the trial in 2013 at the Mohun Bagan Ground which was conducted by Karim Bencherifa where he got selected for the senior team.[1]
Personal Life
[edit]Sr. Ronaldo of Brazil being his idol, at present Argha's favourite International and Indian footballers are Cristiano Ronaldo, Odafa Onyeka Okolie and Sunil Chhetri, while among the International Clubs and Country he supports Real Madrid and Spain national football team.
