BlowUpRadio.com is the first and only internet radio station dedicated to playing music from New Jersey's independent music scene. The station was started in December of 2000 by Larry "Lazlo" Seltzer who had previously worked for WDHA.[1] The station is broadcast on Live365 24/7.[2]
The station and Lazlo have been nominated every year for multiple Asbury Music Awards every year since 2001 [1], and for Hoboken Music Awards since they started in 2009[3], but has never won any awards.
Some of the bands that BlowUpRadio.com have played that have gone on to become known on a national level are the Ergs, Val Emmich, My Chemical Romance, Rick Barry, Nicole Atkins, and the Gay Blades.
BlowUpRadio.com has also done numerous benefit shows and webcasts, benefitting Toys For Tots, Save The Children Foundation, among others.
Some special benefits they have been involved with include:
A Benefit webathon for the victims of Hurrican Katrina that BlowUpRadio.com put together and aired in conjunction with 90.5 The Night and UpStageRadio.[4]
A benefit album and concert for Shayne Miel, a musician diagnosed with cancer.[5]
An annual webathon called "Banding Together" that benefits the Spondylitis Association Of America, a personal cause to Lazlo as his wife suffers from the condition.[6][7]
In addition to BlowUpRadio.com's regular programming there are a few special shows on the webcast: Lazlo's Den [2], Rock And Roll Gas Station with Jim Testa[8], The Weekend Mix Up with Mick Hale[9], and Rock On Radio with Danny Coleman[10]
