Uses

Visio can be used for many different purposes. Many of these purposes are represented by templates within the program. However, there are other uses for Visio and similar programs including organization and illustration. The typical uses for Visio are:

• Business brainstorming and planning, including charts and graphs relating to organization , marketing, data flow, audits, and cause and effect.
• Engineering diagrams
• In Information Technology for network diagrams , Active Directory configuration, maps and server rack configurations as well as brainstorming for websites and software projects
• Various types of Flowcharts
• Floor Plans and Maps

Visio makes provision for several other uses including calendars and timelines, however it is generally found more practical to use alternative software for these tasks.
