My nickname is the name used in Guatemala for the Chayote fruit (Cucurbitaceae). You can eat the fresh leaves as a yummy soup for instance, the root is a delicacy. Normally you eat the fruit, though, prepared like a potatoe. Don't miss to enjoy the best part last: The seed. The plant can overgrow trees and structures within a short period of time. A small clandestine network regards it as a symbol for the grassroots revolution. Every year on the 2nd of December the underground movement commemorates the global güisquil day.
