Image project

[edit]

This project is to collect images that can be used in Wikipedia articles to illustrate the subject of the page. Below is a list of Wikipedia articles (the blue links) that need images, followed by some ideas of what types of images would be desirable for the page. The images must be photos you own the copyright or distribution rights to; not an image you pulled off the internet somewhere, and definitely not an image where the Church of Scientology owns the copyright.

Instructions are below in the section #How to offer photos.

Once I have received photos for a specific Wikipedia article, I will strike out the entry, like this.

People

[edit]

Seeking images of the following people or groups of people.

Scientology practices

[edit]

These photos could be ones you have from real life, or could be staged or mocked up in order to be illustrative of the type of activity or practice.

Scientology buildings & properties

[edit]
For Category:Scientology buildings

Seeking images of Scientology buildings, whether or not on the lists below. The image should be of the building façade, preferably including signage showing the name of the organization, such as "Church of Scientology of XXXXXXX". Acceptable images would include showing the entire building, or a closeup of the entrance, or the building's signage.

Specific properties

Articles that need some images of buildings

How to offer photos

[edit]

Wikipedia/Wikicommons have very strict rules about who can upload images and copyrights and licensing, etc. Also, the upload process within Wikipedia is pretty cumbersome. If you want to upload your own photos into Wikipedia, go for it, but there is definitely a learning curve. However, if you would rather I upload your photos into Wikipedia for you, then you cannot simply email them to me. You will need to upload your images to Flickr (https://flickr.com/) with the correct licensing that Wikipedia will require. In Flickr, for each image you will select a license of either "Attribution (CC BY 2.0)" or "Attribution ShareAlike (CC BY-SA 2.0)". See this image of what the licenses selection box looks like on the Flickr website. Flickr makes it easy for you.

You can read a description of the license types here: Creative Commons license § Four rights

Once you have uploaded your images to Flickr and selected one of the two 'share' licenses for each image, then notify me where your Flickr photostream is, and I will be able to select some of your images for uploading into Wikipedia/Wikicommons using the tool Wikipedia:Upload/Flickr.

If you already know my email address, email me directly. If you do not know it, then make a Wikipedia account (it's free), and email me through Wikipedia using this tool.

When uploading to Flickr, please title your photos or add a description identifying what the photo is about. Also try to add a date if you know it; approximation for dates is fine.
