I nominated this for VfD, but I thought it deserved saved somewhere. Rather amusing I thought.
Bob Flaps
[edit]Scottish television performer (1929-1982).
Found fame in the television series "Whaur's Ma Breakfast?" as the lead character Archie Brown. Notable for the catchphrase "Help ma bob!", the series was reminiscent of other 1960s period comedies such as "Up The Close" and "The McTavishes".
Flaps went onto star as the host of "The Bob Flaps Cartoon Show" where he presented clips of the various downmarket cartoons afforded by regional television.
This career downturn led him to increased alcohol and junk food consumption, like much of South West Scotland, and a series of drunken mishaps culminated in his untimely death. After downing 20 pints of 'Olde Thrappledowser' at a real ale show, he attempted to eat a sliced sausage sandwich but choked on the heel of bread he chose for the occasion.
He is survived by his pet tortoise, Scabby (familiar to fans of the Bob Flaps Cartoon Show as "Terrapin").
In tribute to the influence Flaps had on his career, Scottish comedian Craig Ferguson named a character in his 1999 film The Big Tease after him.
