Stanley Field
Stanley Field, nephew of founding museum benefactor Marshall Field, became president of the Field Museum in 1908, a role he held for 56 years. He was instrumental in relocating the museum to its present location[1], as well as a major philanthropist of the Museum.

His gifts to the Museum, at the end of 1957, totaled $1,911,295[2]

This leather-bound binder was presented to Stanley Field by the Museum in grateful appreciation of the half century as President of the Museum. It includes an original pen-and-ink caricature of Stanley Field, created by E.J. Pfiffner of the Department of Photography and Illustration. Along with portraits of senior staff and curators, it is signed by over 100 members of the Museum staff. Held in the Rare Book Room of the Marie Louise Rosenthal Library.
