Biography
[edit]Lieutenant Commander Gregory Brooks Ostrander is a healthcare scientist in the U. S. Navy Medical Service Corps. He is a Naval Aerospace Physiologist and board certified in Aerospace Physiology by the Aerospace Medical Association.
Greg was born in Norfolk, Virginia and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He graduated from Cox High School and has spent most of his adult life in the U. S. Navy. After a tour in the enlisted ranks, he was appointed Midshipman, Naval Reserve and attended Old Dominion University. After graduating, he attended service schools in the Naval Air Training command as a student pilot and a Maintenance Officer. He served two tours in aviation maintenance. After completing a Master of Aeronautical Science degree, he transferred to the Navy Medical Service Corps and began training in aerospace physiology at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida, and was winged as Naval Aerospace Physiologist number 230 in November 1998. Has has since served tours in Aeromedical Safety, and as a staff member at both the Naval Safety Center and at Naval Aviation Survival Training Centers. He completed a Master of Public Health degree in 2004, and is pursuing a doctorate in public health at Walden University. He recently retired from the Navy in a ceremony onboard the historic battleship USS Wisconsin, on June 5th, 2009. His last assignment was as Assistant Director, Aviation Survival Training Center, Norfolk, Virginia. He will now continue his doctoral work full time until completion of his dissertation.
He is married to the former Emi Marie Bramble of Okinawa, Japan.
Interests
[edit]Greg is interested in both the scientific and historical aspects of various technical fields. Aviation medicine and public health are his primary interests.
