Peebles Baptist Church is located in the Scottish Borders town of Peebles. It was founded in 1889 and is affiliated to the Baptist Union of Scotland.
Services
[edit]PBC meets on Sunday mornings at 11am, in the Victoria Park Centre. Services have a relaxed feel, with a contemporary worship style and no formal dress code. Families are welcome, and younger children go to their own groups having started the service with the adults.
Leadership
[edit]The governing body of any Baptist church is the church members meeting, and in Peebles this group delegates authority to an elected group of deacons. There are currently four deacons, together with the pastor.
History
[edit]founded in 1889 (?) with the support of other Borders Baptist churches. The first pastor was A.M. Crooks, who served from 1889 to 1895.
The church originally had its own building in Greenside in the Old Town, but because of major structural problems this was closed by the Council in 19XX, and subsequently demolished. Since then the church has met in various locations around the town, and in recent years Sunday services have been held in the Victoria Park Centre on Kingsmeadows Road.
