Japanese Fantasy Film Journal (JFFJ) was the first kaiju (giant monster) fanzine with an emphasis on Japanese monsters, such as Godzilla. Also covered were other fantasy films and television shows from Japan. JFFJ was founded by Greg Shoemaker, "The Godfather of Godzilla Fandom".[1] Shoemaker has been credited with founding American Godzilla fandom.[2]
The first issue was published in 1968, and the last in 1984. JFFJ spawned many other Kaiju fanzines, including Japanese Giants and G-Fan.
Famous Monsters of Filmland mentioned and recommended JFFJ in their March 1975 issue, causing a surge of interest. [3]
Gregory Charles Shoemaker, aged 72, died unexpectedly but peacefully on July 19, 2019 in Toledo, Ohio.[4] urnal

I was also proud of my little fanzine when an October 8, 1975, issue of Variety, the weekly movie newspaper, included an article on the Film Literature Index, a quarterly-plus-annual published in Albany, NY, which indexed film periodicals from around the world as well as non-film periodicals which contained articles on movies.
