From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello! My name is Gracie and I am a currently a college student in Washington state. I plan on getting my bachelors in a public policy related major and then working in the public or voluntary sector. When I am not at work or school, I like to spend my time exploring all the amazing hikes the pacific northwest has to offer and watching the same three cheesy shows on Netflix. I also find joy in trying new things as much as possible, whether it be new foods or a new place to visit (not watching new shows though).

For a long time, Wikipedia was sort of a forbidden fruit to me. It appeared to have answers to everything I searched, but I would be scolded if I was caught using it at school due to its unreliable reputation. Wikipedia interests me because it is not an obligation to write or edit articles, however people still do it for the enjoyment and use of others. I am interested in editing and creating pages about past and present political leaders, successful women in predominantly male career fields, trends among the health and beauty community, and the religions and cultures of countries outside of the United States.

Article evaluation

[edit]

I have been a fan of King Princess from the moment I first heard her song “1950”. King Princess is a relatively new artist with few press interviews, therefore all the information about her online is either very generic or questionably sourced. I visited the King Princess page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects worth commenting on: its lack of citations, its lack of information on the artist, and the articles up-to-date sources.

Citations

[edit]

The citations on this page are few and far between. Many paragraphs will have multiple facts mentioned with only one or two citations. The large size of the paragraphs with little to no citations makes it hard to decipher what is fact and what is theory. This article would benefit from a thorough fact-checking, removing any unreliable information, while citing dependable information.

Information.

[edit]

The Wikipedia page on King princess is relatively short and has little information. The discography shown on the Wikipedia page shows only 3 singles of the many that have been released. In the personal life category, the only information given is that the artist identifies as genderqueer and lesbian, and that she was previously in a relationship with Amandla Stenberg. As previously mentioned, King Princess is a newer artist so not much is known about her, however this section could include the many steps she has taken in creating a safe space for genderqueer and LGBTQ youth outside of her music Career.

Age

[edit]

King Princess did not emerge in the music scene until around late 2015, so all of the information on her Wikipedia page is very recent. The oldest source on this page is in early 2018, leaving little room for the information to become outdated. The young age of this article, while simultaneously contributing positively to the reliability, also leaves room for errors and for misinformation to be spread.

Summary

[edit]

I would give this page an overall “B+” rating. I think it is slightly above average for a new article, however it still has a long way to go to be considered very reliable. If The overall number of citations was increased, and the scope of information offered is broadened, then this page would be much more verifiable. The age of this page will increase, but so will the popularity of the artist over the next few years, so outdated information should not be a problem as long as the page is updated.
