About Me

I am a high school student that is doing running start. I enjoy playing and practicing soccer with my friends and family. Also, I have a great time going out and crabbing with my friend and my dad. I have a dog. He is a loud and constantly barking beagle but, he is adorable. In my spare time I like to draw. My favorite things to draw are animals and nature. I find that drawing calms me. If I'm not drawing I'm probably running. Running also helps me destress and is a great way to exercise.

My Wikipedia Interest

I use wikipedia probably more than I realize. I have used for class before and I find myself using it to find out more information on famous people. I have never edited anything on wikipedia before, but I am excited to start using it from the side of the creator.

Article Evaluation

I visited the Kamiak High School article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the article’s references were outdated, not a lot of information available, and some facts didn’t lead to another website.

Outdated Resources

In the article, the amount of sources was already limited. When looking through them it was noticeable that a good amount of the references were outdated. Multiple references were from the 90’s and one of them had no relevance to the piece of information it was linked with. The outdated information could still be relevant but there might be new information that improves the article or discredits some of the previous ideas posted.

Lack of Information

Also, the article did not contain a lot of information. The sports column was definitely lacking. In the past Kamiak has won multiple state championships. I know that the swim team, golf team, and the unified basketball team are very good. Things like state championships would be a good thing to add to the article as it is an important piece of history for that school. Also, the school has had a successful music program and there was no information posted about that at all.

Few Citations

Finally, the article made claims that weren’t able to be linked to another website. This can easily make someone skeptical about the article as whole being true. In the history part of the section there are many facts that have no links to or statements saying how they got the records. For all anybody knows the information could be false.

Summary

All in all, this article did share some great things about Kamiak High School. Some were able to be verified by external links and others weren't. With that being said, the amount of information provided was disappointing and hopefully more factual information gets posted. The article needs to also be revitalized with newer sites that have newer information.
