CIFA S.p.a. is a manufacturing company of machines for the production, transport and laying of concrete (including truck mixers and truck mounted pumps) founded in 1928, in Milan.
Since 2008 it has been part of Zoomlion, a Chinese multinational company in the field of construction machinery and equipment for concrete production and handling.
History
[edit]CIFA was founded in Milan in 1928 by Carlo Ausenda, a Milanese engineer who came into contact with the Blaw Knox company, a historic American construction machinery company. From these reports Ausenda developed CIFA's future technical and business ideas, in particular for the design and supply of panel formwork for the containment of concrete castings for large works.
The first CIFA 400 concrete mixer was launched in 1958. Concrete mixers back then were entirely mechanical, mounted on chassis like the Alfa Romeo 900. From 1969 CIFA started production of truck-mounted pumps.
In 1974, the concrete pump was patented, combining the ability to transport concrete with the possibility of mixing and pouring directly on site.
In 2006, the Magenta Fund joined CIFA's corporate structure with the aim of better defining the organisation, process flows and international expansion strategies. In 2008, an agreement was reached to sell CIFA to Zoomlion, a Chinese multinational group in the construction, agriculture, concrete production and handling equipment sector.
