Te’yJah Oliver (born November 30, 1998) is an American professional Euro Basketball player who plays point guard and shooting guard for Olivais FB Club in Coimbra Portugal. She played college basketball for University of Maryland Baltimore College.[1][2]
Life and career
[edit]Oliver is from Clinton, Maryland. For her first 2 years of high school, she attended Huntingtown High School in Calvert, County. She transferred her junior year to Riverdale Baptist School in Upper Marlboro, and helped the team to a national championship game. She was All-SMAC first-team player at Riverdale Baptist. She was also a part of a Riverdale Baptist team that played in Madison Square Garden on ESPN in the Dick Sporting Good's High School National Tournament.
She scored 325 points as a senior, including a career-high 26 against Archbishop Spalding. While in high school, she also played for Havoc City, Southern Maryland Storm, MD Premiere, and Cardinal Crusaders AAU teams. She finished her career ranked in the top 15 in: points (10th: 1,268), games played (7th: 118). 3FG made (7th: 137), free throws made (10th: 243), free throw percentage (9th: 75.5), assists (14th: 234), and steals (15th: 155)
Freshman year (2016-17)
[edit]She played 29 games starting in 22 games for the Retrievers, averaging 7.6 points per game, while recording 64 assists, 32 steals, and 94 rebounds on the season. She had her season-best with 26 points against Binghamton (Jan. 4) going 9-16 from the field and 6-11 from deep, and 2-3 from the foul line. She tallied 8 rebounds in the game against UMass Lowell (Jan. 22) with 3 assists and 2 steals and scoring 10 points. She racked up 20 points against Vermont (Feb. 12) with 3 rebounds and 3 steals. She was fourth in the team with 9.4 points per game in conference games with a total of 34 assists and 22 steals and an average of 4.0 rebounds per game
Sophomore year (2017-18)
[edit]Played in 30 games, making 13 starts for the Retrievers in her second season with the Retrievers
Averaged 6.7 points per game, dishing out 46 assists in 21.8 minutes per game
Had ten double-digit scoring performances during the year
Had a season-best 17 points against Hofstra and Towson
Dished out seven assists in a loss to St. Bonaventure early in the year
Junior year (2018-19)

Was second on the team in scoring at 11.2 ppg, playing in just under 30 minutes per game while dishing out 2.1 assists per game including a seven assist game against New Hampshire in late January
Reached double figures in scoring in 17 games, including the last five games of the year
She scored a season-high 25 points against Morgan State, just one point off her career-best set as a rookie
Hit the game-winner against New Hampshire in late January to give UMBC their first conference win of the year
Named America East Player of the Week on December 24
Senior year (2019-20)

Named America East All-Conference First Team.
Second in the conference in scoring at 17.7 points per game.
Led the America East in three-point field goal percentage (.359), third in free throw percentage (.813), and fifth in field goal percentage (.377).
Was tied for second in steals per game, averaging 1.9.
Became just the 20th player in UMBC history to post 400 points in a season and the fifth to clip the 500-point mark.
Marked a new career-high with 31 points against Morgan State (9-18, 11-12 FG); was the first Retriever since Taylor McCarley to break the 30-point plateau in 2015-16.
Recorded her first career double-double in a 74-54 win against Maine with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
Three-time America East Player of the Week (12/16, 12/30, 1/27).
Personal life
[edit]Her mother, DeJuan Burns, was a Track and Field runner and Ballet Dancer from 4 yrs old to College. Her mother, a middle distance runner went on to Virginia State and Bowie State where she also competed in Track and Field running the 400m, 800m, the 400m relay and 800m relay.
She has one brother, DeMar Burns in the morning and acting field. Her grandfather Bernard J Burns also ran Track and Field for Anacostia High School and held the 100m dash record until the 1980s. Both grandparents are educators of 52 years. Her father plays professional Cornhole and Soft ball.
Te’yJah has been playing basketball since the age of 10.
She has her Masters in media and communication studies. She is talking Grad classes at UMBC while playing abroad.
