Early Life
[edit]Cockrell was born on July 29, 1951 to Albert Cockrell (June 10, 1929-April 30, 2007) and Gayle Cockrell née Summers or sumner (August 3, 1930-December 8, 2022) in Tucker, Georgia, but moved to and grew up in Vernon, Connecticut when he was 2.
Personal Life
[edit]Cockrell married Marie Tenner in 1975. They have 5 kids. Daughters Stevie, Marissa, and Amy, and sons Peter Cole and Owen.
Cockrell suffered a Heart Attack on October 2, 2022. He subsequently retired on October 8, due to the heart attack and due to worsening Parkinson's Disease.
Cockrell and his brother lived in Vernon, Connecticut until 2008 (briefly living in Brooklyn, New York in the early 90s). Bart moved back to Vernon in 2018 after living in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and his brother George moved back in 2019 after living in Gainesville, Florida.
Death
[edit]Cockrell suffered another heart attack and died in a hospital in Hartford, Connecticut on December 9, 2022, at the age of 71 after months of declining health. His death came just one day after his mother’s.
