My recent RfB
Thank you so much for your participation in my recent RfB. Though it closed with 72% support (below the required 90%), I'm still quite pleased at the outpouring of support shown by a fair percentage of the community.
I'm currently tabulating and calculating all opposing and neutral arguments to help me better address the community's concerns about my abilities as a bureaucrat. If you'd like, you can follow my progress (and/or provide additional suggestions) at User:EVula/admin/RfB notes. Thanks again! EVula // talk // ☯ // 04:34, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
GA review on hold
Hey, G1ggy. Thanks for your help so far on the Wild Arms (series) article, I've made several changes to the article since your GA review a few days ago and was wondering if you could pass or fail the article so the queue can be cleared up on the GA nominations page. If you need me to do anything else, let me know. Thanks. Nall 16:11, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey
Hey G1ggy, just a question. Sorry for asking this question, however just wanted to know how do you delete an entry from Wikipedia. I know how to edit entries, but I forgot how to delete entries.
Sorry for asking this question to you, as I know there is someone else I can ask, however if you could answer this question I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Renaming
Have you ever considered renaming your account to just Giggy? Giggy isn't taken yet, and the closest thing to it is Giggy4ever (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). Just a suggestion, Sebi [talk] 07:22, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- Bad luck because G (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is taken. Sebi [talk] 03:09, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
My RFB
You opposed my RFB, citing a possible conflict of interest. I'm not sure if you're aware, but I've said that if made a bureaucrat, I will not write any stories on bureaucratic actions, and I've also agreed that if, for some reason, it was believed that I had used one power inappropriately with respect to the other, that I would resign my bureaucratic bit immediately. Help with the EAA article deletion -- not sure how to make my article less 'deletable'
You wrote about the Eating Addictions Anonymous article the following:
Delete Spammy, non notable article. - G1ggy Talk/Contribs 04:37, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
It was subsequently deleted. I was the creator of that article. I'm not clear what was the reason it was considered 'spammy'. Please help.
(I created it before I knew how to create a user id, so I guess it was anonymously created[?])
I would like to recreate an article that is less likely to be subject to deletion. Our organization is not commercial in nature. We are a NATIONAL organization - we are a not for profit that helps people with eating disorders. Yes we are small, but we're in no way different in our approach than Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous (on which we are based) -- both of which have articles. Many other small 12 step groups also have articles.
It was the intent to at some point expand the article with the assistance of other members, however, we thought it was both appropriate and helpful that we be listed in an informational resource such as Wikipedia.
If there is a minimum organizational size needed in order to qualify for listing, it seems that many articles that are on wikipedia should be deleted, yet they persist for years. Many seem trivial and silly.
I think that our organization - which is not trying to make any profit, but simply to be of service (we are patterned after AA and NA) is of vital importance. Yes we're small, but the thousands of letters we receive suggest that there is a strong need for what we do. We're not promoting a diet or any other fad -- we're trying to help some of the more than 50 percent of our country that is struggling with obesity help themselves recover.
I am unsure what we need to do to constitute 'notable' -- so please advise. Also advise if there is a number of urls that will flag an article as being spammy?

AIV report
Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. In this case, it's because the warnings were post-vandalism. Re-report if the vandalism continues. Thanks.--Chaser - T 05:47, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Right. Unless it's egregious (which you definitely should report) we usually don't block unless they vandalize at least once after a recent warning.--Chaser - T 05:52, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you
Hello, Giggy. Thank you for your kind words and the smile. Unfortunately, I believe my departure at this moment is necessary for me. I am tired and have had some personal losses in the last month. This, along with the unpleasant moments I point out at my talk page, have made me take this decision. I really need to rest for a couple of months. If I feel better then, maybe I'll come back. Captions for singles
Hi. About using captions for single covers in Lost and Running. If an image's subject is fairly obvious, the caption is not needed. I looked at WP:MOS and the sentence says, "Photos and other graphics always have captions, unless they are “self-captioning” (such as in reproductions of album or book covers)." I feel it is obvious that the image placed in the single infobox has to be the single's cover. About HTML issues, if there is no caption included or the image can't be, the infobox automatically adds a small statement that says - "'Lost and Running' cover". Reply to me what your opinion is. Thank you. RaNdOm26 10:09, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive
A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.
You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:16, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Question
Hey,
I have a quick question for you. I found an image [4] that has rationale for an article that does not exist and is in an article where the rationale is not included. I looked at the article it was in and it does not help improve the article in any fashion. Should I add a copyright tag and get the person to explain a rationale, nominate it for speedy deletion or nominate it for regular deletion?
Also, I included the history of my Adaption Task 3 above (but forgot to sign it :() so I added my sig and I am ready for the next task

Hello and thank you for your message! I wasn't aware that I removed anything from the page, I apologise if this is the case - I actually intended only to modify one of my previous edits ("show within a show" changed to show-within-a-show) partly because there is a wikipedia article on "show-within-a-show" that enabled me to create a Hyperlink, and partly because I wasn't sure that it was really necessary to put this inside quotation marks. However, I think you were right to change this back as maybe the previous version looks more natural (and maybe more correct)

Your close of Not Wikipedia Administrator's RfA
It should not have been closed under SNOW, since at the time it was split with 1/3 each way. No clear overwhelming trend was yet evident. Please reconsider. Kurt Weber 04:51, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
A joke? Can you read my mind? As a point of fact, I was perfectly serious. I realize that SNOW is not based on raw numbers but on the actual probability of something happening--but as early in the process as it was, with no overwhelming trend actually evident, it's awfully arrogant to claim that you can foresee the outcome with 100% accuracy. Kurt Weber 04:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
At the point in the process at which you chose to close it, there is no way you could have known that for sure. It doesn't hurt to wait until an overwhelming trend actually emerges. Kurt Weber 05:07, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
RfA SNOW Close
Hi, you just closed my RfA under WP:SNOW. I do understand that you might oppose my RfA, and you can certainly say so on the RfA if you wish. However, I am not too sure how WP:SNOW applies to an RfA with 1 support, 1 oppose, and 1 neutral. WP:SNOW is meant to be used for cases where there is practically no support-- not a case where there is 50% support! I respectfully ask that you allow our Wikipedian peers to decide the matter, whichever way it may go. Not Wikipedia Administrator 04:55, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- The RfA got closed while I had the edit box open and was deciding on how to vote. I do think SNOW would have applied. --健次(derumi)talk 04:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

DEATH indeed its too good for you :) (vogons and poetry that one comes from). cheers etc SatuSuro 00:42, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Think of a john cleese half the current age flinging around in a circular manner a broken wooden chair with a fawlty style anger in a small room, screaming out Categories? who said we have categories in this project? and a small quivering manuel in japanese tainted false spanish accent yes and they have sub projects as well. Come out of under the rock and tag a thousand categories before bed time, just remember not that many sleeps before the last harry trotter to placate the anxiety. Cheers - being the 13th friday its sort of fitting to have all this here. SatuSuro 01:05, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi again Giggy. Before leaving to the Algarve, I've made a quick review of your contributions. I think that you're almost ready for an RfA. Hey Giggy, I'm looking to clone our effort on Powderfinger for my first love of music, Crowded House, by starting a WikiProject but I don't know crap about starting them up and was hoping you could give me a hand. - Thanks for hopping on board! I'm going to do the banner suggestion you made. I just uploaded a project image (which is now also on the mainspace cover of Crowded House in the infobox). As to being younger than Crowded House, I'm only 24 myself, only 6 weeks older than Liam Finn, however since a very young age I have been keenly interested in their music. When I first came to Wikipedia, i just asumed that the pages that were here are the ones that had to stay here, but have realised that their notability is greater than to simply have a few album pages, so I fingured I'd start working on it, but having finished creating all the single articles (which was entertaining, but very intense) I realise there's still much to be done for the whole project. Anyway, thansk for joining up. I'll get a banner together (though, customisation will probably be a little behind what I'll do until I get more people on board). If you can think of any users who've expressed an interest in this, please let them (or me) know. --lincalinca 02:45, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Um, how am I supposed to source a visual novel? I can't use templates like {{cite book}} since the visual novel has no page numbers, though the chapters are all named. All that is in the story section comes straight out of the visual novel story, so it cannot be properly sourced. And I don't see what's wrong with the character section. Since there are only four characters in the entire game that actually mean anything. And what was this about an anime? Planetarian never had one.--十八 02:33, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- I have no idea what you're talking about; how would the character section be considered listcruft? You were the one that passed Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru with not only less references than Planetarian, but also with many more characters, albeit there was less on the descriptions due to a main character article. And I'm not sure you understand; Planetarian is not a book, it's a computer game. I assure you, I've searched for reviews on this game, but most are not reliable sources, or just non-notable sources. Amazon wouldn't have anything on this game in terms of reviews as it's Japanese-exclusive, and Japanese customer reviews are useless anyway. I do agree with some of the other unsourced statements, but sourcing parts of the story just cannot be done.--十八 02:43, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

GA nomination of Rapture (Bradley Joseph album)
Hi Giggy. Thank you for reviewing this, must be a world record -- GA nom to review in under 8 minutes. Actually, I don't believe length is included in the criteria for Good articles, but rather dependent on quality. It is not very long, but does cover every aspect from all sources available. Any suggestions for improvement to prose would be welcome, but there is nothing more I can add to it. Cricket02 22:48, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

AoM
Let me give a couple grunge work things. Check to make sure that all passive voice is active voice ("the person is fighting" becomes "the person fights" etc.) Check reference 1, make sure all sources have a publishing year (even if it's the copyright date of last updated) look for publisher and work (I.E. work=Gamespot|publisher=CNET), remove the extraneous bold text in gameplay, if there is anything worth while in the audio department go ahead, and of course add more if possible to development and gameplay. For a game this popular, it would be nice for reception and development to be as developed as gameplay, possibly add a box of review scores like in some other RTS FA games. Another good spot that takes a while to read but is worth it is User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a if you haven't already. Prose can always be sharper and crisper, and you must put some time into the prose or it will be ripped to pieces at FAC.
As a word to the wise, I don't think you've ever been an FAC nom, so you might want to prepare yourself. You may be lucky and it will pass with few problems, but people have been known to be...brutal. Take it in stride, and keep working. If I think of more specific stuff, I'll let you know.-Clyde (talk) 19:52, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Beau Long page- marked for deletion
Good day,
I'm writing you to ask why Beau Long's page was marked for deletion when many exist within the same criteria with no worries. Michael White page for example.. his bandmate IS the Nuthin Sacred indie label and run out of their apartment. He's done extensive editing to his own page and it's there purely for self promotion as well as the rest of the Mojo Rib stuff. There are many other examples that fill the Wiki site. We helped shape an era of the LA scene in the 80's and should be considered legitimate entries. Especially considering the amount of "bedroom only" musicians that are on the site.
Thank you
- Page was edited to reflect discriminatory remarks that didn't read the way they were intended. It was meant to show that no matter if a player/group/label was "notorious" or not, they were/are important to a time period past and/or present. It was erased because the wording did not show the true intentions of the post and may have been misconstrued as an attack on the player and band mentioned. That was not the intention at all and also why it was edited.
Thank you-
Yes, I have been away:
Sorry! I really wouldn't have thought that I'd not get the chance to edit... but my grandmother in London doesn't have a high speed connection, and for whatever reason her internet is excruciatingly slow, so I'm going to be avoiding editing... also, this UK keyboard is a lot different... only because they insisted on putting the £ where the # was, and for WHATEVER reason putting ¬ where ~ is supposed to go... therefore adding several extra keys across the keyboard, so while... nevermind, ranting. Anyway, so now that I've got this down pat, I'll probably avoid heavy editing, and slap up a semi-wikibreak on my page... mostly because it's so slow, it's useless to try to do anything. On an up-side note, the new underground system is amazing... well, at least until the company doing the renovations to the underground "mysteriously ran out of money". License tagging for Image:Powderfinger-Don't Wanna be Left Out-18s.ogg
Thanks for uploading Image:Powderfinger-Don't Wanna be Left Out-18s.ogg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:08, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Re:this comment - I knew it had been a while, so I went back and checked. The last RFA nom I made was Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Wereon, in March of 2005. Prior to that, I nominated Mark Ryan (user:Mark) in 2004, before we used the Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/username nomination style. I knew it had been a while, but I didn't realize it had been quite so long. Raul654 02:04, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
sorry
It wasn't my intention to "spam" you. I was just trying to rally support for what I felt was -- and still feel is -- a good page, and it seemed expeditious to ask for help using a cut and paste. And I took offense that the Admin in question did not seem particularly knowledgable. Not that I am perfect myself, obviously. But I work hard for what I believe in, and it is difficult in a system where it is so easy to delete someone's hard work. The pages in question have been happily here for 2 years, and people have liked them, as witnessed by the plethora of growing artwork and poetry surrounding the concept, including its use as a critical tool in the press. Thanks and best -jc

Deletion of account: Darren Choy Mun Keet
Hi Giggy, can you assist me with the deletion of my hacked account as I am afraid that people would mistake me for the imposter, thanks.

Sock puppet - 'moi' ? Never... I'm taking all of this with a 'pinch of salt'
My response to your accusation of being a Sock Puppet of TharkunColl is here at the associated suspected sock puppet page.
Here's my response in full though...
- A Sprigot responds...
- I'm Sprigot and I find it insulting that you think I'm TharkunColl - is it inconcievable that a long term Wikipeida 'user' as in reader would pick up a fair amount ? I've been reading the Second city of the United Kingdom article for the last few weeks - and frankly Giggy the behaviour of your adoptee XAndreWx has been not just rude - but down right disgusting - he constantly lies - especially about "not being aware" of Wikipedia rules he's already been told of (and broken - proof here) - frankly it makes my blood boil the way he was behaving - and that's why when I found the multiple transgressions (3RR and Sock Puppeteering) I very easily figured out that everything on here has a 'WP:' - basically 'cause all of you talk in acronyms and you have to look it up to figure out what you're talking about (and remember the 3P's - Process, Process, Process).
- As to refruting the claim then here goes:
- Can someone check mine and Tharkuncoll's IP addresses please ? I assume that they are different.
- Would anyone like to read my work - of which there is plenty on my Talk Page, I find it is substantially different in content, tone, and metre - metre is the hardest to fake because people 'slip' back into the 'way they talk / write' very easily.
- My spelling is awful - and I couldn't give either - I suspect Tharkuncoll's spelling is better than mine, and that he could (give that is)
- Repeated words and phrases - most people use repeated words or phrases in there languages - look at this reponse and compare it to my other texts and then to Tharkuncolls - you'll see there is a lot of repeated use of words and phrases in my text which are not in Tharkuncoll's
- I suspect I've made edits which Tharkuncoll disagrees with - someone mentioned my addition of Birmingham to the list of large Irish immigrant population would be against Tharkuncoll's judgement on the English people article. My ancestory is Irish (as well as Lancastrian and also from Birmingham - see more on my Talk Page). Birmingham has a large Irish population - although as most have been here for 40 / 50 years so they have married into the indigenous population (like my family) - so it's all a bit blurred - but Birmingham has a very inclusive and vibrant St. Patrick's Day parade, a large Irish quarter (Digbeth), and even an Irish Mayor.
- Happy to talk to you or an administrator via Telephonic Communication.
- Happy to meet XAndreWx in his home town of Manchester - I'm there about once a week for work (not a threat - please don't mis-construe it as one).
- GoodDay's point above is valid, don't you think ? "If TharkunColl and Sprigot can make edits at the same time. That may end the sockpuppet speculation. GoodDay 23:23, 22 July 2007 (UTC)"
- Any other means of proving that I'm real I'd be happy to discuss (although blood samples are out - I'm not keen on needles, lol). I've never been accused of being purely 'virtual' before - and find the experience quite strange - but amusing too.
- Finally I'd like to add - isn't this a case of sour grapes ? I mean your very anxious to defend XAndreWx aren't you ? It's not my fault that your adoptee is a foolish liar (apart from the evidence above how about here too- at the bottom of the page). Ammusingly he blames his multiple transgression of the 3RR rule (XAndreWx specific) on you over here on the page investigating his suspected Sock Puppeteering (the evidence I raised against him is substantially better than than the evidence you've raised against Tharkuncoll too).
- In our conversation over here you say that "As I said to Maxim, I haven't spoken to Andrew in several weeks now, and am not fully responsible for his behaviour. I have attempted to contact him, but to no avail...I will try again. In regards to 3RR, I fully agree with you that this behaviour should be stopped, so I would ask that you don't draw me into your 3RR and sockpuppet reports and make it seem as if I'm on his side. I'm not. I'm an external party who is currently removing the adoptee template from his userpage since that's clearly over. I'll try to talk to him again, but you can't expect me to control his behaviour fully, as it isn't possible. Giggy UCP 22:02, 19 July 2007 (UTC)". Yet when Maxim unblocks XAndreWx's initial 3RR over here (bottom of the page) Maxim says "Giggy has asked me to remove it, and I trust you've cooled off by now." - if you hadn't spoken to XAndreWx then why did you talk to Maxim about 'letting him off' his initial 3RR ?
- I see that according to your sentance above "XAndreWx (user in question, who has asked me to step in and help here)" shows that XAndreWx has been in touch with you since you removed him as a adoptee (I hope in the words of Maxim he has "cooled off" by now too), and this accusation of Sock Puppeteering against Tharkuncoll very much goes against your previous statement of "In regards to 3RR, I fully agree with you that this behaviour should be stopped, so I would ask that you don't draw me into your 3RR and sockpuppet reports and make it seem as if I'm on his side. I'm not." and your asseration that you are not on XAndreWx's 'side' (I think you'll find that 'it's hard to defend the indefensible').
- What has been heartening about this has been all the messages of support to Tharkuncoll on this page and his Talk Page - support that was not in evidence in XAndreWx's Sock Puppeetering case I may add - thanks to everyone for there support!
- Giggy - when this has been fully refruted - I'm expecting a full apology from you - otherwise your going to look very silly over all of this...
- All the best to all - especially Giggy. Sprigot 09:10, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

1. Though I have had the unfortunate experience of realizing that Belkin wireless adapters will not work on my grandmother's computer due to the fact that it's running windows me (not that it makes a bloody difference in my opinion), I am getting her a Netgear one, which does work on Windows ME tomorrow, and that should allow me to use high speed internet. I'll tell you more on that later. Anyway, so other than the phrase "This train terminates at: Kennington, via Charing Cross" stuck in my head from the undergrounds, you probably don't have to keep an eye on any of my stuff for much longer... (also, what's up with the edits to Jensen Beach High School insulting you and such, check the history if you haven't heard) Cheers! ----HAL2008TK CT 19:57, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
CLARIFICATION: For clarification purposes, certain words, phrases, etc. have been bolded, and turned red in the above statement to assist in proving the point in this statement. It would have been easier to copy and paste, but far less fun. To clarify: MY GRANDMOTHER'S COMPUTER, not mine. Mine runs linux! It's... just not here due to the darned 110v/220v differences between the US and Europe.
BSSM
Haha, yeah I realized that after the fact. I added references to VH1's Behind the Music to the areas I remembered it including. I also put in some stuff from the band's biography at All Music Guide, and some other magazine articles as well to be more factually accurate. Fixed "Blood Sugar Sex Magik marked guitarist John Frusciante's second album with the Chili Peppers; he, however, departed mid-tour due to the growing success and popularity it was receiving." in the lead, and removed the unsourced statement "Blood Sugar Sex Magik is often considered to be an influential and defining album on the 1990's." I was in the process of referencing the album chart positions when you posted the review, and I recently added a source for the Singles chart (covers all). If anything else still seems wrong, just contact me. Regards, NSR77 TC 00:02, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

GA nomination of Renewable energy commercialization in Australia
The article Renewable energy commercialization in Australia you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold. It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Renewable energy commercialization in Australia for things needed to be addressed. GA nomination of Elvis Presley
See my critical remarks on the Talk:Elvis Presley page. Onefortyone 05:42, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Is it really a "good" article?
- 1. Well written?: G
- 2. Factually accurate?: No. It partly includes wrong information.
- 3. Broad in coverage?: No. Sections on Elvis's manager, the Memphis Mafia etc. are missing.
- 4. Neutral point of view?: No. Still too fan-oriented. Critical sections have been removed.
- 5. Article stability?
- 6. Images?: ???

AfD attention request
Not sure if this is out of order, but there's a somewhat contentions AfD (here) that has received little outside attention. Since the AfD was initiated, a number of single purpose accounts (likely sockpuppets) have started editing (and discussing on the talk page) the article; not !voting, fortunately. In any case, I wanted to see if some AfD regulars could stop by and weigh in. I'm not looking to sway !votes here—I haven't targeted deletionists; I'm asking editors that seem to !vote a lot on music-related AfDs. No reply is necessary but your opinion is valued. Unusual Adoption Request
Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. If you would like to add your name to my list, please go to my talk page and add it there, perhaps with a short introduction, if you like.
Thank you!

Giggy, could you please tell why you reverted my changes to the ICMI page. The information I put is bona fide. I am involved with the organization of ICME-11, the web site I included is the official ICME-11 web site. The chair of ICMI, Michele Artigue, is a member of the international program committee (IPC) organizing ICME-11. The chair of the IPC is Marcela Santillan (IPCChair@icme11.org). RfC on reverting edit of ICMI page
Giggy:
Did you get my previous message? I would like to know what led you to revert my edit of the ICMI page. ICMI carries on certain activities that include ICME, regional meetings and special studies. The information I added is OK and useful. I was not experimenting. There is no reason I can think of for reverting the edit, but I suppose you have your reasons. I have now signed in so that you may identify me as a registered user. One more question, did you do this on your own initiative or are you a special user invested with authority by Wikipedia to do it? Is there some Wikipedia policy I disregarded? Of course, I have avoided editing it once again before we can discuss it. Please respond. Cheers, Echoedgar 22:21, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I didn't get the hang of this until now so you got this message twice plus my previous one , two without a title. Echoedgar 22:29, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Just one more comment: I found this on the help section
Do not revert good faith edits. In other words, try to consider the editor "on the other end." If what one is attempting is a positive contribution to Wikipedia, a revert of those contributions is inappropriate unless, and only unless, you as an editor possess firm, substantive, and objective proof to the contrary. Mere disagreement is not such proof. See also Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith.
Did you adhere to this? What proof, or even hint, of vandalism do you have? Sorry, but I am annoyed.
The RfA
About my RfA, it could not pass, or it can pass. But I won't care as long as people see it. If I have to work on Wikipedia for longer, then I will, or whatever the rules are.

Hey Giggy,
I'm planning to update the Adoption pages to an extent- including dealing with that ancient proposed merge of mentoring and adoption. Seeing as you're one of the few active editors there, I thought I'd let you know. I plan to merge adoption and mentoring into one page- and differentiate between mentoring/adoption and the disciplinary variant. I'll also create a separate page for the disciplinary variant and notify the ArbCom. If you have any objections to my proposals, please do drop me a note.

- It's always the best candidates that get piled upon :( Good luck next time, and i'd even nominate you if you can't find someone else (which has a 0% chance). Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 03:55, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- You seem to have misinterpreted my comment at your RfA somewhat - at the time I had no idea you intended to run for adminship. Nevertheless I'm sorry that it didn't work out - an RfA can sometimes be a somewhat disheartening experience even if it does pass. All the best for the future; I'm sure that you'll make a good admin at some point, once you've worked on the concerns highlighted in the opposition a little bit. The WP community (for the most part) is great in that it allows room for people to make mistakes or iron out creases. Take care! ~ Riana ⁂ 03:58, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Alex, please don't feel mad or try to leave the project just because of the RfA thing. Many people don't know how to appreciate a good candidate. They attack and drive them off the project, and yet, they trust sockpuppeteers. Look, we know that RfA is flawed, but that's no reason to stop editing for good. I know you must feel bad, and I recommend you take some time off, but please don't leave. You are too valuable to us. I recommend you don't take the matter so seriously and try to calmly address the concerns pointed out. I pray so that you can feel better. Happy editing! - I'm kind of sad that you withdrawed, but some opposers were getting hot, rather than civil, so I understand your idea of analyzing it. I'll be waiting for you analysis! --Hirohisat Talk 04:29, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

What?? But you were going so well! When did this change occur? Whatever happened, I wish you best of luck next RFA. Dont let it get you down. Cheers, -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 06:09, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- From what I have seen (I didn't vote, but I know and respect several of the "oppose" voters and know they definitely would not have placed them as part of some personal grudge), the lesson to be learned here is "Participating in too many battles makes too many enemies". If you stand back and analyse, several of the battles were not worth the fighting. Especially some of your contributions to RfAs while yours was proceeding, but some before that as well, such as at Melburnian's RFA. If you want to become an admin, you need to prove to the community that you won't be reckless. Show good faith at all times, keep in mind how your comments might look to a neutral party as opposed to simply whoever they're expressed to, and sink yourself into editing and stop worrying about administration until you have a solid block of articles to point to. If anything, as an admin for four months who got through my first RfA without a single oppose vote 11 months into my time on the encyclopaedia, the content skills more than the admin skills have been key to my performance as an admin, and I can hold my own in debates as a result. Orderinchaos 07:15, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
It's a real shame that you withdrew your rfa, but I feel you must have reasons for it. I still believe that you will make an excellent admin my friend, and I will be happy to support you anytime you need it, especially if you decide to go for adminship once more. Yours truly - Deliciously Saucy 11:21, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry to hear that you've withdrawn your RfA. I hope you don't feel discouraged by this incident, Alex. You're a very good user, and I'm pretty sure you'll make it next time soon. Best wishes, Peacent 14:31, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey
Don't let it get to you. Trust me, I understand how you feel; I was a bit shaken after my RfB failed, but don't let it get to you. Yes, it sucks, but just keep working on improving yourself. Not only do you become a better Wikipedian for it, but you become a better person; having that same "I'll just get better" attitude can help you weather all types of rough situations. EVula // talk // ☯ // 04:31, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Try again in a few months and you'll probably have better success. Best wishes!--MONGO 04:44, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Man...
Hey buddy. Sorry about your Rfa. I want to apologize for the instance of the "retarded" comment. I think it was more than obvious you and I were just messing around, but it seems as if someone didn't take it that way. I trust you are not anything more than disappointed, and are working towards getting your analysis done. By the way, when you are ready to run for an Rfa again, I want to be in on the nomination or co-nomination if you like. Jmlk17 04:53, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Giggy and Jmlk17 - I couldn't believe someone used that for an oppose. It's getting to the point here you dare not say anything vaguely sarcastic or matey without someone pulling you over the coals. I know we are here to build a 'pedia, but we do it via the community - Jimbo has stated that the community is a vital part of the work, and in a community you will have light hearted comments as well as serious work. Any way mate, I'll look forward to your review, but don't be to down about the whole thing. Cheers fella. Pedro | Chat 07:09, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
hey giggy.....
(re: your message....) no worries Giggy - i'll take a look when the link turns blue - In general, you sure do alot of work, and you seem to want to be admin - i think the best advice would be just to occasionally take a deep breath and make sure to really listen and consider the perspective of people you disagree with.
In general though, I'm sure you're a great editor, and will absorb and learn from this experience - hopefully working on wikipedia will be both rewarding and fun! - Evula and MONGO say it well above! - cheerio for now! - Purples 05:16, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Smile!
This confusing and rather contradictory message is probably supposed to promote WikiLove and hopefully has made your day better, or just weirder. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 06:41, 21 February 2007 (UTC).
I'll do my utmost my friend. Do not be disheartened, many editor did not get thought on their first attempt (myself included :)) I think Can't Sleep Clowns will Eat Me (50,000 + edits ect.) had tried 5+ times. You will be better in all aspects, but listen carefully. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 10:34, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
RFA
Please don't go and leave the project just because of a silly RFA :( As EVula said above, in the end it's all helping to make you a better editor and prepared for the next RFA. Sebi [talk] 07:23, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Come on mate, don't be discouraged because of one RfA. It's nothing much, and I am sure that you'll easily pass after a few months, if you listen to EVula and orderinchaos' advice. And you don't want me to start the monk burning without your help, right? I'll even throw in a co-nom next time you seek adminship...Just toss me an email. --Dark Falls talk 10:02, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
I must admit that after seeing all the opposes on your rfa some of them made good points but I stick by my support as feel you have earned my trust and if you start stuffing around with the buttons I could always recall you. I hope to see you back on the 'pedia after your wikibreak! --Chris g 10:36, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Idea
Giggy, I do feel sorry it turned out this way but I am concerned about some of the stuff that you've been involved in. There's been alot of talk about deletionists and inclusionists in the past and I for one am really concerned about trigger-happy deleters. At the end of the day I vote if I reckon WP is gonna be helped by this person being an admin and I was worried - I saw deleted material and wiki-storm clouds a-brewing. One of the best ways to win back the opposers (many of whom are in for the hard slog of writing FAs) is by writing stuff. You like Powderfinger, well turn it into a Featured Article. For me, a collaboration and really creating a cool FA is one of the best things on wikipedia. I'll be happy to copyedit and offer suggestions. Getting an FA or two under yer belt as well as some of the positive article-related stuff (like GAC/FAC/FAR etc.) is also good. I saw you've been doing it at GA and that's cool. I'd actually give the AfD stuff a bit of a rest for a while.
The other clanger is reproducing personal stuff online - I hate sounding like a patronising **** but many people are really unhappy with any disclosures along these lines - several wikipedians (especially but not only females) have had a rough time in the past with unwanted attention.
Anyway - I'd be happy to help collaborate or have a look over anything you wanna work up in the future, but I'll be tied up for the next week or two. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 11:31, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
PS: Pearl Jam is at FAC currently - it would be a good test to see what is required of Powderfinger...cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 11:38, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Your RFA
I have a few things to discuss with you. First, I eventually realized that your "retard" conversation was in actuality a joke, my sincerest apologize for misconstruing the remarks. Second, I would have most likely posted a neutral vote anyway, as (most of the time) I prefer supporting RFA's when I don't know the candidate at all, to eliminate any bias. Otherwise, I was prepared to give a strong support, as the many great times I've interacted with you have been just that (great). I hope this incident does not cause you to leave Wikipedia. Regards, NSR77 TC 12:20, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- I don't get why you withdrew it, but I will be looking at you "follow-up". Politics rule 13:56, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey just saw your withdrawn RfA. At least you have a clear cut area you have to work on (though I don't really understand the essay). I hope to see another RfA from you again. J-stan Talk 14:25, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

AfD note
Hi, Giggy. I dropped you a note earlier, but you probably didn't see it because of everything going on with your RfA. If you're back from your wikibreak before this AfD discussion closes, could you take a second look at the article in question? Sources have been found since your !vote which may address the WP:V concerns you mentioned, and you may wish to change your !vote. Thanks — and don't let the bastards grind you down. I know that this place can be discouraging sometimes (I took a wikibreak of several months recently), but I've found that it's usually possible to bounce back. —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 18:32, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- No problem — thanks for responding. (I obviously think the added sources provide the requisite verifiability, but we'll see what the closing admin says.) —Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 22:35, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Why?
I know the WP:TTR thing was a bit of a mistake, but I don't think that you needed to withdraw the whole thing. Honestly, the best way to learn how to improve would have been to allow people to comment, good and bad. Oh well, it's your RfA, and I don't want to sound Preachy or anything. Anyway, I know you'll get the job eventually, don't be too disheartened. ----HAL2008[[User talk:HAL2008|talk]] 21:38, 31 July 2007 (UTC) EDIT: And don't you think you're being a wee bit dramatic? Sulking isn't going to help buddy, you're going to have to try, you'll just have to prove to a few people that you've fixed your mistakes. Don't lose faith in the project becuase of one little incident. In fact, I think I'll go try to find an essay on that right now, or write on myself if need be. --HAL2008talk 21:42, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Your RFA, again
- Support. Sorry to see you felt the need to withdraw. For what it's worth, you can consider this a post-mortem support vote for the RfA since I wasn't able to get in on time. I think you'd have done well. ɑʀкʏɑɴ 21:49, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Analysis
Hi Giggy, your analysis was pretty nice (I'm still laughing about putting {{humour}} on every joke you make...). I'm taking the analysis as that you have to watch every move you take. One joke could be taken as a immature comment. It's like we're been tailed. TTF and "Majorly Chat" is something of the past, so you'll definatly (you better...) will pass the next Rfa. Good luck, --Hirohisat Talk 23:14, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
