Bio
[edit]Born to a Canadian mother and Scottish father, he developed an early love for quintessentially American folk in the sound of Neil Young and also classic British pop from John Lennon's The Beatles. His musical abilities have been apparent from a very young age with the same lyrics he wrote at 16 now embedded in musical history within the various releases he’s done through his current label D-Set Records. Over the years he has played alongside some influential names in the industry such as Bob Dylan [1] [2], Ocean Colour Scene[1] and The Charlatans [3]. Now at the age of 38 he has a lot of work ahead of him, but is in a good position as he is now supported by a group of talented artists. Many of whom have their own success stories - now collectively known as the 'The Aprils'. Some of the names have changed over time, but at the time of recording his EP 'The Aprils' consisted of:
[4]
- Norman Blake (bass, vocals) (Teenage Fanclub)
- Francis MacDonald (drums, vocals) (Teenage Fanclub)
- Tracyanne Campbell (vocals) (Camera Obscura)
- Nigel Baillie (trumpet)
- Steve Jackson of (guitar) (Belle & Sebastian)
- Mick Cooke (horns, strings) (Belle & Sebastian)
Outside of music Aaron has shown his interest in more serious issues such rain forest destruction. At the end of 2010 he helped in a charity performance at the Forest Café in Edinburgh
