Mark E. Rey

Mark Rey is the Under Secretary of Natural Resources and Environment for the USDA. He was sworn in by former Agriculture Secretary Ann M. Veneman on October 2, 2001. Rey oversees the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service and Natural Resources Conservation Service. He is responsible for the management of 156 national forests, 19 national grasslands, and 15 utilization projects on 191 million acres divided among 44 states.[1]

Early Life and Education

Rey was born in Canton, Ohio. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife management, a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry, and a Master of Science degree in natural resources policy and administration, all from the University of Michigan.[2]

He was Vice President of Forestry Programs for the National Forest products Assoc.

He was Executive Director of the American Forest Resource Alliance

He was Vice President of Forest Resources for the American Forest and Paper Association
