Wow! Thanks - I had not checked that. It's a record for one of my TFAs, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:44, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- I was playing around with the web service that shows numbers of hits and every article I checked linked to Cherry Springs State Park had a spike on June 11th, see one example. Even Benjamin Rush State Park, PA 44, Coudersport and the state forest all had spikes. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:59, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Virginia PR
Dincher, you asked me to reminded you about looking at the Virginia article and its peer review today, and I know Saturday is almost gone, but if you have some time, that would be most cool. Thanks again!--Patrick «» 01:39, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- Awesome, thanks for the view. Its funny how you can work on an article for months and never notice something like "uified judicial system." I'll get working on your recommendations real soon!--Patrick «» 04:44, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
My Account
Hello, I was looking at the policies for Wikipedia, and got concerned because I forgot to register my e-mail on my user name and forgot the password to an account. When I realised this I went and created my next account(in other words this is my third account). Is there anyway in which those accounts could be deleted (they are BKBOT (Mohilccs), BKLC11). I wanted to bring this to your attention because i did not want to be accused of "sock puppetry." ThanksBK2011 (talk) 15:54, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ok thanks. I just was hopoing that it was ok for that (I also believe that the edits were labeled "All in order" (or whatever it says))BK2011 (talk) 16:01, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
County names
Thanks for adding county names! I've been seriously distracted lately, as last weekend was my college graduation, so no help for you from me lately.
As far as which ones I've completed: sorry I don't remember. Perhaps you could look at the county templates' histories, since I change the links when I move the pages. Have you done that for these counties? Nyttend (talk) 02:27, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks :-) Yes, it will definitely be a long process; Omnedon and I took many weeks to move all the Minnesota townships. Again, thanks for help! Nyttend (talk) 11:03, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I will just look at the county navbox histories. I already did Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania (OK, so it has no twps). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:21, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- Turns out it has a bunch of defunct twps, sigh Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:03, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- Do you have any idea how many counties remain to be done? We seem to be making more progress lately :-) Nyttend (talk) 01:22, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- I just did Wyoming County - do you fix all redirects (what I did, took a long time) or just double redirects? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:12, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- OK, thanks - I fixed all but one redirect (a highway article with a template I did not understand how to fix the link in) Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:45, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

(outdent) Thought I'd let you know that Erie County is done, except for Lawrence Park, Pennsylvania (which, because its a 1st class township, I believe is a special case). Also with the highway articles, if the township is in a |location=
, the township can be manually added with a |location_special=
. --D.B.talk•contribs 03:37, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'd help with fixing redirects with AWB, but I'll be in the Allegheny National Forest for much of today and tomorrow. --D.B.talk•contribs 13:11, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- I was dabing (not sure if that is the correct term for fixing links to disambig pages or even a word) townships in List of places in Pennsylvania: A, while also fixing redirects to townships already moved, and came across some that weren't moved yet and moved them then, so as to not have to come back later to fix the redirect. I should be able to finish the rest of the county eventually (to which I see that you just finished up Susquehanna County). --D.B.talk•contribs 02:03, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- York County, Pennsylvania is done. I swapped out some pix in Worlds End State Park too. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 18:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks - if you like one of the other Rock Garden pix (or the old fisherman pic) better, swap them back out. We climbed up through the one crevice (pictured) then ran around on top of the rocks. In all my trips to Worlds End I had never managed to go there before, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:04, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- I may be able to get back to township moving soon: I just finished a big project reworking all 1,944 National Register of Historic Places sites in Tennessee that took several days of mostly offline work. Nyttend (talk) 00:29, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- I took the plunge and am working my way through Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:11, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I've done a little, moving the Jefferson County townships. Nyttend (talk) 01:44, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- I am not sure if I should move McCandless, Pennsylvania or not. Technically a township. I will leave it where it is for now, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:54, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK, Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania is also technically a township but the name is officially just "Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania" so I think I will leave it there, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:59, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

(out)They already don't have "Township" in their name but are in the Townships section of the county nav box... We'll see. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:17, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- I am done with the moves, fixing double redirects, and fixing the nav box and county page links. I left McCandless and Mt Lebanon where they were for now - will ask Nyttend what he thinks. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:03, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Schuylkill County is done. Nyttend (talk) 13:57, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Hyner View
Work area for expansion at User:Ruhrfisch/Frog2 Ruhrfisch ><>°° 13:03, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- I also think we can get it to FA - there is a lot of Geology and the Natrive Americans had the Sinnemahoning Path along the river there. Wallace's book on Native Paths specifically recommends Hyner View for a view of the river valley and path course. There is also a nature preserve / study area next to the park. I am uploading hang glider pix to Commons, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 14:16, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- The Big Runaway and Fair Play Men only got as far west as Lock Haven, so I don't think they belong in the article. The Bucktail Brigade did float down the river past the park in 1861, and I would also mention the establishment of Sproul State Forest and Bucktail State Park (which is an IBA and borders the park). I have a few more refs to add to the talk page next. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 15:42, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- I will only be online a few more minutes then will be away from my computer most of the rest of the day. Have a good holiday, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:21, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Smithton
Thanks for editing the Smithton photo. It looks great. I am new to Wikipedia. Jmz1902 (talk) 19:46, 26 May 2009 (UTC) I am doing a project for school. I just wanted to know why exactly you modified the photo. For the school project I have to discuss with the editors of Wikipedia. Thanks a lot. Jmz1902 (talk) 11:02, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Waterfalls
I added a bunch of pix of Ricketts Glen on Commons. Have two or three more to add, and found I used the wrong name for the falls under the bridge (Adams is further downstream). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:16, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- I eventually want to get a picture of each of the waterfalls and to identify the two on Commons (plus Mwanner's picture and the other here that are in the article). Found an old history online here with a fair amount on the Ricketts family and the area. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 20:46, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
UPBSP DYK
The expansion is based on size of the text only (not refs and infobox and other code). There is a tool for checking this - I will aks someone to find the start size and current size. I have some things to add too. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:37, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Using this webpage and pasting in the text only, the version before starting expansion here is 2593 characters and the current version here is 8241 characters, which is a bit over a 3 fold expansion. We need to get to 12,965 characters. I think the weather data does not count, but the PA 44 hsitory from Cherry Springs could be added and I have some odds and ends about Upper Pine Bottom Run to add. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:56, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- The script you're after is User:Shubinator/DYKcheck.js. I had a quick look, Upper Pine Bottom State Park is currently 7504b and was 1792b before expansion started. About 1000b of prose to go, I look forward to seeing it nom'd and on the main page! Bigger digger (talk) 23:46, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks Bigger Digger! Dincher, are you OK if I work on the UPBSP article some now - don't want edit conflicts and have some things to add. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:27, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks - just added some on Native Americans. The Robert Falcon Scott controversy is mostly what I would have done if an admin or not, but I did block an editor for disruptive edits. Sigh. Will work on cleaning up the Geology and found the weather data. I think we are there for expansion. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:35, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Meginness has some on Upper Pine Bottom Run being a very early site of industry - coal deposits, iron furnace in 1814, saw mills, declared a public highway (for logging) by the state legislature, and now it is state forest and the park. So I had thought about something like "that Upper Pine Bottom Run in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania was home to an iron furnace and sawmills in the 19th century, but today is home to state forest land and the 5-acre (2.0 ha) Upper Pine Bottom State Park? I need to add these details bfore a DYK nom. The other possibility I thought of is the second smallest state park. What do you think? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:02, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK, thanks - I am going to take a break for a few hours, then should have it ready to nominate later this evening. I was going to add a history subsection on "State forest and park" and also thought about adding Ecology and Recreation sections (not much for either, so maybe they can be combined). After DYK, I think this will at least be GA. We should get a peer review and ask people if they think it is worthy of FA (no, too silly). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:26, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, still sticking my nose in. I think the information on the number of picnic tables is a bit too prominent in the lead and the poorly-defined number of parking spaces is also too prominent and unencyclopedic - "perhaps a dozen". There's also the risk that for a small park some of your information is too broad and would be better off in the articles of the nearby areas, but I'm not really sure. Certainly you've done some very good work expanding it. As a hook might I suggest: ... that Upper Pine Bottom State Park was home to Native Americans, hosted an iron furnace and a sawmill but now only has 3 picnic tables? It's 135 characters which doesn't leave much room if the Run needs to be mentioned - forgive me for speed reading the article but it's late here and I need to go to sleep! Bigger digger (talk) 23:05, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

(out) Thanks - this is nowhere near ready for GA or PR (let alone FAC). The lead is usually the last thing we adjust, to make sure it is an accurate summary of the rest of the article. While I like your hook, the sources are not specific enough to let us know where the iron furnace and sawmill were, just that they were on Upper Pine Bottom Run somewhere, not specifically in what is now the park. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 23:35, 8 June 2009 (UTC) PS I agree completely with your points about the lead per the picnic tables and size of the parking lot. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 23:46, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Great Bacon News
Dincher, per your edit summary here, you can contribute in 2010, the Bacon Challenge 2010 is already up and running. The DYKers weren't too supportive of a one-off Bacon DYK so the hooks were diluted, over a few days. The 2010 Challenge is timed to arrive with National Pig Day so that all the hooks are uploaded together. I expect to see you signing up and contributing! Bigger digger (talk) 23:11, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Adams Lake State Park
I like it - how about DYK ... that Adams Lake in Adams Lake State Park in Adams County, Ohio was built to provide water to the village of West Union and became the focus of the new park in 1950, when a new water source was developed? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 19:59, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Cowan Lake State Park
I think they must be the same William Smalley, although the Ohio park article information is sparse. He is also mentioned in the article for Ottawa, Ohio as a guide. I think he would make an interesting hook, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:11, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

- Sorry I missed your earlier talk page comment on a DYK hook. I like your idea, with a tweak or two:
- DYK ... that William Smalley, the first settler in the area of Cowan Lake State Park in Ohio, was held captive by the Lenape twice, for a total of 6 years and 7 months? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:57, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Fair pics
I added a pic to Hughesville, Pennsylvania and now uploaded a panorama at File:Hughesville, Pennsylvania Fair panorama.jpg. What do you think? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:14, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- I checked Google Earth and the USGS topo map here and the fairgrounds are within Hughesville. The current infobox picture is the leftmost panel of the panorama. If I could get a picture of "downtown" Hughesville, the panorama could go at the bottom of the article perhaps. I just feel odd with the same pic in there twice. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:06, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- Is there something else in South Williamsport that I should try and photograph for the infobox next time I am there? I used to like to ride the Rotor, but never puked from it. I have not thought about an article on the fair. There would be a ton on it in the Sun Gazette archive. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:49, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Misery
I just knew we had talked about Morelli in the past and not to my surprise it was under the section "Misery". Anyway I just looked on the Cardinals website and Anthony isn't on the roster. Cardinals. I am planning on going to the Iowa game this year, it should be a blast! Dincher (talk) 21:26, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
- Iowa will be a guaranteed blast—it’s looking like I’ll be there too. Don't forget to wear your white. I think Morelli’s situation was sort of unorthodox. I am fairly certain he was with the Cardinals in some capacity this past spring. (A release came across the wire back in April.) This is just a guess, but I'd imagine he was just a “hired arm” to chuck balls at mini-camp. Regardless, it must be over because I read here that he will be coaching quarterbacks at Plum High School. Ahem, good luck to them with that.—xanderer (talk) 20:40, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Intersting bit of news out of Plum. I keep checking GoPSU sports for updated player bios. I want to do an article on Jared Odrick, possibly Jack Crawford, there was a very good article about him in the Altoona Mirror. Probably some others as well. Dincher (talk) 21:42, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Good choices. Crawford is gonna be a star, so I've been stockpiling articles about him on my user page. Feel free to mine them for info. I just got my 2009 Media Guide in the mail. I've only flipped through it quickly, but it’s gonna be a goldmine of information. Do you want me to scan Crawford and Odrick's bios? —xanderer (talk) 22:07, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Sulgrave club.
Greetings, Dincher. I'm interested in creating a page on the Sulgrave club in the District of Columbia, in Washington D.C. I have a sketch of the article worked out in my sandbox, but I'm not sure it's ready for creation yet. As you are in the WikiProject related to National Register of Historic Places, I was hoping you could help me; if there are any tweaks or fixings you think could be done to improve the page so it is its best before creation, I'd appreciate the information. Thanks! Mess around with the guy in shades all you like - don't mess around with the girl in gloves! (talk) 00:20, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I weighed in on the talk page - I think it is worth a sentence, since it is referenced to the newspaper article, but not its own section. Facebook is not a RS either.
I was going to try and get Upper Pine Bottom done for GAN in the next few days, then turn to Hyner View. Do you think that we should put UPB up for a peer review before GAN? Except for PR, I have also been in a bit of a slump here. I should have a few new pictures to upload soon. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:16, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, UPB is fairly close to ready. I was assuming we were still going to try for a DYK with Hyner View too (a draft is still in my user space). Do you also want to try for a FA for Hyner Run? I don't think they are as close to each other in subject matter as Colton Point and Leonard Harrison, but I liked your idea on this. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 22:44, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Virginia
A few months back, you kindly did a peer review of the article on Virginia. Since then, I've taken your advice to heart and made numerous changes in preparation for today, when I re-nominated the article for FAC. I'd love to have you look over the article again to see if there's anything we can improve on yet. And if you had an opinion on it, please feel free to share it at WP:FAC#Virginia. - Thanks for looking the article over, and thanks for being the first to stand up and support us!-- Patrick {oѺ∞} 17:27, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Guide
Sure. Gotta run, spaghetti and meatballs are on the table! Dincher (talk) 22:17, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- You can send it to my email. I am looking forward to reading up on them. I would love to get the media guide myself, but I don't see my wife going along with that. I gotta keep her happy, you know. Dincher (talk) 23:04, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Oh I know. Boy do I know! I wrote the media guide off as "business expense" this year. (We'll see how the IRS feels about that in April.) I emailed you Jack Crawford's bio today. You probably don't need it now that the player bios are online at gopsusports, but I wanted to follow through anyway. Don't forget the references I've been collecting on my user page too. —xanderer (talk) 13:42, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Upper Pine Bottom SP
Glad you like it - I need to slightly expand the Class B campground section based on the 1925 book, and add in a bit about the CCC and the two CCC camps in the area (Little Pine and Haneyville). Need to look at the two history books again (there is something in Forrey but I need to reread it). I found a new source too here which might seem familiar ;-) Also need to add some on Ecology and recreation in a new section.
I keep meaning to ask you - I was not going to make a map for this (UPBSP) as it is so small and there are almost no details to show in a map. I think Hyner View might not need a map either (also very small and almost no facilities to show). Neither has an official DCNR map either. Hyner Run will need a map, as do the rest of the 20 must see that I can think of. WHat do you think? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:53, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- I am pretty sure the Jersey Shore - Coudersport Pike did not run along Upper Pine Bottom Run. Please see Talk:Upper Pine Bottom State Park. Sigh. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:49, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Mont Alto State Park pictures
Nice set of pictures on Commons of Mont Alto State Park - sorry about Penn State's loss. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:47, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- I look forward to seeing more pictures - will also do my best to get more pictures. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:59, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
Waterville Bridge and Swatara State Park
I am pretty sure it is in Swatara State Park - the NRHP form for the bridge describes the bridge being dismantled and moved there and the overall multiple property submission for the Penn DOT bridges also mentions that they double checked with the NRHP to make sure the bridge was still eligible. My strong feeling is that with all that they would also make sure to include a current picture of the bridge (i.e. in Swatara State Park, not in Waterville).
Hold on - I went to look on Flickr and found that the bridge is on the HAER too - there are lots of free photos of it in Swatara State Park here, including this very nice one in color here. I will upload that to Commons next. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 15:16, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- OK, the color pic of the bridge is on Commons and in the article - also made a Swatara State Park category on Commons. 19 to go! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 15:54, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks - I also thought it was a really nice picture. I like your new photos of Caedonia SP too. I had an hour or so "free" and thought I could some more done on UPBSP and wound up getting the Swatara pic uploaded instead. Ah well, no deadlines on wiki... - All 87 PA state parks on Commons now have categories and are sub cats of the PA State Parks cat (and their counties). 11 parks only have images here (not on Commons) so I suppose those could be moved. There is one error cat on Commons (McConnells State Park) that I have marked for deletion, and one extra cat (the free photos from the DCNR), so by my count there are 22 parks that still need photos (87 + 11 = 98, 120 - 98 = 22). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:38, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- OK, now all 104 PA state parks with photos have at least one photo on Commons and each has a category on Commons too (the count in the PA state parks category is 105 as it includes the category fro the free DCNR pix). I also double checked all 120 park articles and made sure each park article with images on Commons had {{Commonscat}} under External links. Phew! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 18:44, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Actually
It's a misconception, thought to be common knowledge that Wikipedia is not the place for opinions. What is disallowed is original research or any sort of biased opinion. If an opinion has any sort of merit or there is a citation for it, it is valid in Wikipedia as long as it is shown to be a popular opinion. For example, you will find a lot of opinions cited in the Global Warming article. I know you meant well, I just thought I'd point that out to you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.162.46.34 (talk) 06:09, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
New source
Hi! I found a new source that lists the area of each state park as of 2007 here. There are some discrepancies (Hyner View isl isted as 40 acres, the website for the park says 6), but it lists every park and also gives the size of lakes and swimming pools. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 13:00, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
