Edit warring at Borjgali

[edit]
Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Per a complaint at the edit warring noticeboard. Please be aware that if the dispute continues after your block ends, indefinite blocks may be considered for both parties. You are advised to wait for consensus before making any more changes to articles that relate to the eternity symbol. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 15:28, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

@EdJohnston: Your decision is understandable but is temporary and does not solve the problem.
I) The article displays the VM version since 4 days (because I decided to stop reverting). As "Blocks should not be punitive"

and -> Blocks should be used to:

   1° prevent imminent or continuing damage and disruption to Wikipedia;
   2° deter the continuation of present, disruptive behavior; and
   3° encourage a more productive, congenial editing style within community norms.

1° As I stopped reverting there is nothing imminent to prevent ?
2° I did not behave disruptively -> I am looking for a solution but my arguments remain unanswered and VM is making off-topic and insulting comments.
3° I proposed to VM to discuss several times (see 2° above).

II) You say that this symbol is used by Georgians and Armenians, which is true. But the discussion is not about that at all. @EdJohnston:"Long term edit warring about a symbol which is contested between Armenians and Georgians as to its origin"->This sentence is far from reality. There are two wikipedia pages for two different symbols. At no point did I or VM discuss the origin of the symbol. It is not about that. VM disputes that the Borjgali symbol can have more than 7 branches. Just look at the history and discussion of the article. He has skewed the debate on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring falsely. I never changed the article Armenian eternity sign.
III) I have argued and sourced my changes. One person comes along and without discussion deletes my changes over and over again. Ok, I shouldn't have reviewed more than once BUT what about the fact that my changes are sourced and argued? What about the fact that the person deleting my changes doesn't respond to any objective argument and doesn't discuss? Instead, he writes off-topic, untruthful and simply insulting statements against me! --Van Gogia (talk) 16:24, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
You are using this template in the wrong namespace. Use this template on your talk page instead.
@331dot: My decision to stop reverting was clear -> as I pointed out that I had not done so since 27 May. There was nothing to stop me from reverting for 4 days. I have never come into conflict with another article or another user before. So you don't need to be a "mind reader", you just have to observe my behaviour and declarations since my request.
OK, let's admit that I'm blocked for good reasons. My posts on the talk page remain unanswered and the article still shows the VM version. I am supposed to accept the fact that a user deletes my contributions by attacking me personally even if I have justified, argued and sourced my contributions?
It's just not fair. A user who doesn't respect the rules of wikipedia and is insulting me, has published his version without even responding to my arguments and by deleting sources... So my decision to stop reverting because it is against the rules of Wikipedia is a disavowal. So you are encouraging behaviour that is against Wikipedia's rules-> You should 3) encourage a more productive, congenial editing style within community norms.--Van Gogia (talk) 23:45, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Le Havre, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page DVC. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:56, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Edit warring

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. --Steverci (talk) 02:29, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
