A little bit me
[edit]Retired schoolteacher from Lancashire who used to live in Yorkshire! Am now back in God's own county. I used to teach Modern European History so naturally I am happy to look at any articles that touch on my speciality. Very keen on the history of postage stamp issues. I see stamps as historical documents. I am not a keen editor but I enjoy tidying up and helping to move things beyond the stub level if I can.
Apart from that, I'm happily married and we have a cat. I support the grand old sport of Rugby Football, that being "real" rugby with forwards and tackling, not the alternative. I don't support any particular rugby club and go to watch local teams such as Fylde RUFC; essentially I support England. I like to watch county and Test cricket. I definitely do support Lancashire CCC, as well as England, and I like motor cycle racing, having been a keen "biker" myself for many years.
"George Williams" is not my real name. It is a tribute to Emlyn Williams and my greatest sporting hero Brian Statham, who were both known as "George". I flipped a coin for the surname and Williams won.

Hi "George" --
I have collected most of the primary sources on stoolball up to 1860, and seek to compare that body of evident with that of cricket up to 1700 so as to ascertain what is really known of the relation of the two games in the 17th C. I have questions about the wiki material on cricket during that period and hope to locate someone to interact with. Thanks for any leads. L.
