Will Firth	2019-03-29	references can be found to substantiate that Firth is an experienced translator. But none of the references I found said anything notable about his translations. Patrick O'Brian supported himself, for decades, as a translator, his translations included Papillon, which, I am sure, would never have made the English-language best-seller list, would never have been made into two Hollywood movies, if it weren't that O'Brian was himself a gifted writer. Even so, it is a poorly recognized skill, and I doubt whether even O'Brian would have measured up to our inclusion criteria, solely for his work as a translator.
