From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a significant inland river port the city has operated fireboats in Louisville. Louisville acquired its first fireboat in 1934.[1]

Louisville acquired a new fireboat in 2010, with 75 percent of the cost met by a FEMA Port Security Grant.[2] The new boat rescued a swimmer, shortly after her commissioning.

On July 18, 2018, one of the city's fireboats sank at her moorings, after a big storm.[3]
