explanation
[edit]Another contributor changed this redirect to point to Uyghur people with the edit summary: "as per my suggestion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2010 May 3" Their comment there said:
- I redirected Uyghur guest house in Jalalabad and East Turkistan Organization safe house (Jalalabad) to point to Uyghur people until things have been discussed. The from User Geo Swan suggested target article is controversial and does not mention Uyghur guest house in Jalalabad.
That other contributor subsequently nominated Uyghur guest houses suspected of ties to islamist militancy for deletion. As Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Uyghur guest houses suspected of ties to islamist militancy has been closed -- as "no consensus" -- I believe this satisfies the "until things have been discussed" part of the other contributor's concern has been addressed.
So I am reverting back to Uyghur guest houses suspected of ties to islamist militancy.

- That this article has closed with no consensus as Afd is no justification or reason why East Turkistan Organization safe house (Jalalabad) should redirect to Uyghur guest houses suspected of ties to islamist militancy and i do not think there is a good reason. - I believe you have an obligation to explain why you don't think it should redirect to Uyghur guest houses suspected of ties to islamist militancy. I will wait a reasonable period for you to offer a meaningful, substantive explanation. If you don't offer one I will revert. Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 21:46, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- Let's be clear here. Good faith contributors have an obligation to do their best to understand the points or counterpoints of those who disagree with them. Good faith contributors have an obligation to try to compromise, and try to meet those who have concerns with their contributions partway.
- I believe the record is very clear here. I have continued to make the effort to understand and address your concerns, in spite of your claims of bad faith on my part. I have continued to be willing to take your concerns at face value, and make changes to accommodate your concerns.
- I am sorry, there is no tactful way to say this. There are editing choices that begin the cycle of edit warring. You routinely make editing choices that are the first step in an edit war. Reverting when you know the other party disagrees with you, and then offering as your only explanation a brief edit summary is a very potent trigger for an edit war. I have explained this before. This editing choice leaves a very potent temptation to the other party to reply to your edit summary, with their own edit summary, when they, in turn, revert you. Instant edit war.
- This is an editing choice you make all the time.
- It takes multiple parties for a trigger to an edit war to develop into a full-fledged edit war. I believe it is very much to the credit of myself, and the other individuals you revert, when they refrain from responding to your edit summary with their own edit summary, in a revert of your revert.
- I didn't revert you here. Frankly that is to my credit. Instead I asked for your justification for redirecting to Uyghur people. I don't think it is necessary for me to repeat, again, why East Turkistan Organization safe house (Jalalabad) or Uyghur guest house in Jalalabad should redirect to Uyghur guest houses suspected of ties to islamist militancy. But I will do so anyhow.
- We have an article on Uyghur guest houses suspected of ties to islamist militancy. It explicity covers the topic of East Turkistan Organization safe house (Jalalabad) and Uyghur guest house in Jalalabad. We (probably) can't find enough WP:RS to flesh out separate articles on East Turkistan Organization safe house (Jalalabad) and Uyghur guest house in Jalalabad. If those articles were started I would agree with anyone who asserted that they should be merged and redirected. And, I suggest, the prime candidate would be Uyghur guest houses suspected of ties to islamist militancy.
- I asked for your justification for redirecting to Uyghur people. I really, strongly, believe you have an obligation to offer a justification, a new one, because your earlier justifications have been fully addressed. Geo Swan (talk) 23:28, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
