21st century
[edit]Ioanna Bourazopoulou has already left her mark in the literature of recent decades, as one of the few Greek writer of speculative fiction.[1] She is best-known for the science-fiction novel What Lot's Wife saw (2007), while her yet unfinished trilogy The Dragon of Prespa (The Valley of Mud - 2014, Amber Desert - 2019) has received wide acclaim.[2][3]
Since the 2010's, crime literature has been on the rise, at least in terms of books published.[4] Crime authors that have attracted wide attention include Hilda Papadimitriou (For a Fistful of Vinyls - 2011, Guilty until proven otherwise - 2021), Eftychia Giannaki (In the Back Seat - 2016, Halcyon Days - 2017), and Dimitris Simos (The Frogs - 2016, Save me - 2020). Giannakaki in particular has been praised for blending mystery with various modern sociopolitical issues, such as racism and illicit antiquities trade.[5]
