Genna Dan whose given name is Rodjay Morrison, has made his mark as one of the most powerful and dynamic upcoming forces in the dancehall industry. Born and raised in Grove Place District, Manchester, Genna Dan realised his passion for music while attending Christiana High School. He recalls using music as a coping mechanism to deal with depression, bearing in mind he did not have the easiest childhood.

Genna Dan grew up in a single parent household and though his mother was and is still a hardworking woman, ends didn’t always meet. He gives his fans a brief synopsis of that aspect of his childhood in his single “Dear Mama”. From earlier days until now, music has been the link to many of the things and people Genna Dan cherishes.

For several years, Genna indirectly affiliated himself with music and though it gave him a high, it didn’t seem to fill the void he knew was there. It wasn’t until 2020 at the age 29 that he decided to chase his childhood dream that was evidently his calling. He officially launched his career with his single “Let Go” which piqued the interest of many individuals due to its diverse composition.

Genna Dan has a unique way in which he writes and delivers his music. All his songs are filled with emotions as he writes from experience or understanding. His lyrics are gender neutral and highlight topics that are relatable and current . He also uses his platform as an artist to educate his listeners about occurrences in the history of our fellow black people in a modernised manner.

His supporters believe that this will propel him towards greatness on both the local and international level. With hot new releases such as “We Made It”, “Mansa Musa”, “Chip 17”, “Nah Lef” and “Bad” which is featured on Manchester based dancehall artist Kahsion mixtape titled Cautiontape; Genna was able to rapidly build his fan base and attract attention from industry players such as Dappa Don Entertainment, Relentless Records, Lex Dem Productions, Berjal Musik, Mgeez Production and Chiavi Records. This is just the beginning for Genna Dan. He promises to work stupendously and once he gets the break he has been anticipating, he will most definitely be a force to reckon with. He is currently apart of the infamous music group know as “WORLBANK” which is scattered throughout the island as we as overseas.
