My name is Larry E. Reid. I am from Tennessee, USA and was born shortly after WWII.
During high school I worked for my father building guitars for RG&G Musical Instrument Company. This was known as the Grammer Guitar. I also performed in local rock bands. None were famous outside Nashville.
I was drafted into the US Army. I survived training at Ft. Campbell, KY, and Ft. Lewis, WA. Dr. Martin Luther King was murdered on the day I graduated from Advanced Infantry Training. I was sent to Vietnam and assigned to the 2nd Brigade, 9th Infantry Division, also known as the Mobile Riverine Force. I consider my military service to have made me an accomplice to war crimes ordered by President Lyndon Johnson and Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. My "job" was carrying a radio to facilitate communication between my platoon and other US forces. I was wounded in combat on August 18, 1968 during a river ambush which killed or wounded everyone in third platoon. That event is described in the book by Wendell Affield, "Muddy Jungle Rivers." I was tended in the field and finished that mission. I consider my military service to be the worst thing I have done in my life. There is no honor or glory in war, only the dead and damaged.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. I have not had the ability to enjoy a career. I never held a job for more than 7 years. I have not remained in a serious relationship for very long and am estranged from my son and daughter. My first marriage lasted almost a decade, the second died after 8 years. The third was around 6 years but I have been married since 2004 to a wonderful person. I hope to be with her for many more years.
I was raised as a Southern Baptist but have had no interest in religion since 1979. I am passionate about exposing what is wrong with the way the world is run and fixing it. I believe that sexual intimacy can be healing and should not be confined to ancient traditions of courtship and marriage which have little to do with our nature and the natural order in this world.
I love history but am aware that it is written by the victor and is not objective or always factual. I find it fulfilling to fit pieces together and try to make sense of it all. It is like a gigantic puzzle for me.
