The Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, or shortened to Sugar Valley, or abreviated as SVRCS, is a K-12 charter school located at 236 East Main Street, Loganton, Pennsylvania, United States. SVRCS bears its name due to its location in the geographic region of Sugar Valley. In the 2021-2022 school year, total enrollment at the school was reported as 479.[1]

SVRCS's colors are green and white, and has a phoenix as its mascot. The school's slogan is "Responsibility, Integrity, Safety, and Engagement", commonly abbreviated as RISE.

Academics

In 2022, proficiency in mathematics at Sugar Valley was reported as 32%, proficiency in reading as 46%, and proficiency in science as 33%.[2] The graduation rate at the school was also reported as 97%.[2]

At the state level, SVRCS ranks #2011 out of 2549 in overall test rank, ranking in the bottom 50% of schools in Pennsylvania.[1]

Sports

In the Fall, Sugar Valley sports include golf, volleyball, and cheerleading.[3] In the Winter, Sugar Valley sports include wrestling.[3] In the Spring, Sugar Valley sports include baseball, and softball.[3]

History

The Sugar Valley Rural Charter School was founded on August 22, 2000, by the Sugar Valley Concerned Citizens after the former Sugar Valley High School (1996) was closed by Keystone Central School District.[4]
