Asya Fateyeva ( Ukrainian: Ася Фатєєва Assja Fatjejewa ; Russian: Ася Фатеева Assja Fatejewa ; emphasis: Ássja Fatéjewa ; born 9 May 1990 in Kerch , Autonomous Republic of Crimea , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union  ) is a German saxophonist of Ukrainian descent and university lecturer.

Live and act

Asya Fateyeva was born in Crimea and received her first piano lessons at the age of six . In 2000 she began playing the saxophone. She was first taught by Lilija Russanova at the Simferopol Music School and later by Margarita Shaposhnikova at the Gnessin School in Moscow . After moving to Germany in 2005, she studied at the Cologne University of Music under Daniel Gauthier, where she completed her studies in 2011. She also spent a semester abroad at the Paris Conservatory under Claude Delangle and was taught by Jean-Denis Michat at the Conservatoire de Lyon . This was followed by a master's degree at the Hamburg University of Music under Niklas Schmidt. Fateyeva has received numerous scholarships, including the Gerd Bucerius scholarship from the ZEIT Foundation , a scholarship from the Yamaha Music Foundation and the Orpheum Foundation for the Promotion of Young Soloists . She is the winner of numerous competitions.

Fateyeva has performed with orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Fedoseyev , the Moscow Virtuosi , the Tchaikovsky Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Ukrainian National Philharmonic , the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra ( İstanbul Devlet Senfoni Orkestrası ) and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, as well as various German orchestras.  As a portrait artist of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival 2024, 17 concerts are planned.  She also plays tenor saxophone in the Alliage Quintet .

From 2014 she taught as a lecturer for classical saxophone at the Münster University of Music .  In 2024 she was appointed part-time professor for saxophone at the Hamburg University of Music.
