Angelia “pronounced An-juh-lie” Robinson (born December 20, 1972), is an American gospel, motivational speaker, contemporary Christian recording artist, songwriter, and author.
Biography
[edit]Angelia Robinson (nee Bowman) was born in Washington, DC on December 20, 1972 to Randolph Douglass Bowman and Andrea Oleathia Bowman on December, 20, 1972. She is the second of three children by her mother, and the first of six children by her father. Although Angelia Robinson was born in Washington, DC, she grew up in Prince Georges County, just outside Washington, DC, graduating Central High School. Since the age of 5 Angelia nurtured her music talents, performing in various singing groups, clubs and local talent shows. In 2009 she released her debut album, Lessons in Love[1]. A single from that track, Wishing You Were Here” was selected to be part of the soundtrack for the film Saving God, starring Ving Rhames[2]. In 2010, Angelia joined the One Love Gospel Cruise, sharing the stage with gospel greats like Hezekiah Walker, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, and Donnie McClurkin. Also, in 2010, she made history as one of the first urban gospel singers to perform at the Stellar_Awards[3].
In 2012 Angelia moved to Texas to collaborate with Fred Hammond to work on music and television projects. Angelia's hard work, dedication and relevance to women of all ages, color and religion, garnered her a product endorsement deal with Diva By Cindy Hair Care Products, a co-host spot on the revamped television show, Inner City Gospel[4], and co-host on the Sean Sarvis Radio Show The Big Talker on CBS Radio[5].
An outspoken advocate for women’s empowerment, in 2015 she joined Pure Romance where she currently serves as senior Executive Director[6].In March 2021 Angelia published her first book, Who R U? Tales of a Survivor, which chronicles her life story, one where she experienced abuse and bouts of depression, but also triumph and empowerment[7].
Angelia Robinson now resides in the Dallas, Texas area and is the mother of three sons and two daughters.
