Casero is a Canadian high-tech company based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Casero sells white-label online backup and media sharing solutions to telecom service providers and cable MSOs. It employs approximately 60 people and is a privately held corporation.

History

[edit]

Casero was founded by Kevin Kimsa (President and COO) and Paul Atkinson (Chair and CEO) and incorporated in January 2002. The Casero principals also founded Solect Technology Group, which sold to Amdocs for $1.2 billion in 2000.

Casero developed a platform as the underlying framework for multiple value added services with a single point of integration into the network operator’s broadband network.

The Casero solution involves online PC backup and media sharing solutions which are white-labeled and sold to consumers by telcos and MSOs. Early customers were Bell Canada and BT, but now include Eircom, Cox communications, bSkyb, Cincinnati Bell and others.

Product Offering

[edit]

Casero’s core offering is called the Casero Vault. Telcos and MSOs offer the Vault under their own brand name as a value added service marketed in conjunction with their broadband Internet offering.

Backup & Storage The Casero Backup Manager software is used by subscribers to automatically store their computer files in their online vault. The application works in the background on a scheduled basis.

Accessing and Sharing Media Subscribers can access the files (sometimes referred to as “media”) in their Vault from any location with an Internet connection. Also, they can share files in their Vault with family and friends by sending an email invitation with a link to their media.

Mobile The Casero Mobile Sync and Store client software is a lightweight application that offers a way for subscribers to back up the photos (and other files) on their mobile phones. They can also download files from their online vault to their mobile handset for viewing and sharing while they’re away from their computer. Also, Casero Mobile Sync & Store provides the ability to synchronize contacts between the subscriber’s vault and mobile devices.

Display Device Extensions The Casero Vault enables subscribers to view photos on several display devices including PCs, mobile phones, digital photo frames and IPTVs.
