After that huge lesson on vandalism, we're going to have a smaller lesson on some more things that you can do with Twinkle.

Talkback

[edit]

Talkback is a tool that lets users know, in one click, that you have responded to their message. It can be found under "TB" in the Twinkle dropdown menu. A window will pop up, allowing you to choose options including the name of the page on which you responded to the message. All that you have to do is type the name of the page. You can also link to sections using #, but remember that the name is case-sensitive. If you like, you can also leave a short message for the user.

RPP

[edit]

For pages that may need protection (eg. pages with a high rate of vandalism), you can use Twinkle to request that they be protected. Simply click the "RPP" button under the menu, select your options, and submit.

AIV

[edit]

You already know this from the last lesson, but you can use Twinkle to report vandals to WP:AIV. Just choose "AIV" or "ARV", depending on the page you're on, fill out information, and submit.

Tags

[edit]

This feature allows you to add maintenance tags to an article. We'll cover the use of these tags more in a later lesson, but to use this, just choose whatever tag you want and submit. If you're having trouble finding this, it's in the dropdown menu, under the obscure name of "Tags".

Rollback

[edit]

This will probably be the most common feature that you use in Twinkle. Visiting a diff page of the latest edit, you will see three links, all about rollback. Let's quickly go over them again.

  • Rollback (AGF) - Use this green link to revert edits that you assume are made in good faith, but are still obviously not constructive, such as adding "It's big" to the article on the Universe. This will allow you to add an edit summary stating why you made the reversion.
  • Rollback - Use this blue link to revert edits normally that you think are incorrect, such as correcting spelling from "colour" to "color" in the article on Manitoba. Again, you can (and normally should) leave an edit summary.
  • Rollback (VANDAL) - Use this red link to revert edits that are blatant vandalism, such as changing Maurice Richard's name to Ship of Theseus. This will leave an automatic edit summary, leaving you more time to warn the vandal.

Welcome

[edit]

The last feature we'll be discussing in this lesson will be welcoming. This allows you to welcome new users to the encyclopedia. Just click the "Wel" button, choose the template you want to use, and submit.
