HISTORY
The Saint Francis School was first established on the last week of January 1980, as a private non-sectarian pre-school named SAINT FRANCIS CHILDREN'S HOUSE., offering Nursery, Kindergarten and Preparatory studies. Two years after, owing to the Permit and the Certificate of recognition granted by Director Saturnino Magturo of the Department of Education, the Primary, Intermediate and Secondary levels were included in its program, since it was the desire of the management to help the youth in the vicinity who could not afford the costly Elementary and High School tuition fees charged by some private schools in San Pedro, Laguna, and to train them to be skilled and functional citizens of the society. In June 1996, the full ownership and management of the Saint Francis School was transferred by its owner and President Mrs. Ligaya Reyes Amante, to her five daughters and to one of her sons. On February 1, 1998, she awarded the Certificate of Real Ownership to her five daughters, namely Aida Amante Almendrala, Irma Amante Barbajo, Thelma Amante Orellana, Francisca Amante Sietereales and Rosa Amante Yatco. Eventually, Saint Francis School's name became SAN FRANCISCO DE SALES SCHOOL OF SAN PEDRO, LAGUNA INC. upon approval of the DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION and the SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION (SEC) on December 10, 2001. The change of the school's name was triggered by the confusion brought by the establishment of some new firms, institution, subdivision, bookstore, etc. in the vicinity using the same name (SAINT FRANCIS) and the desire of the whole academic community to institute a distinct name and reputation for itself. The feast Day of San Francisco De Sales falls every 24th of January a co-incidence with the establishment and foundation week of the Saint Francis Children's House and Saint Francis School, San Francisco De Sales is the Patron Saint of Educators, teachers, journalists, authors, writers and the sick people.
