From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is life beyond Wiki - this "environment" is a collection of bits, "0s" and "1s", arranged in sequence as "nibbles" and "bytes" to form "words", interpreted and compiled into code, code which is stored in a retrieval system. Code that may be accessed here and re-ordered to produce (via a suitable user interface) both audio and visual presentations ONLY. It will not harm you, it will not sustain life in you, it will however, give you headaches when you try to understand it, eye strain when you do too much of it. If you lose your "bits" of "code" it`s because you forgot to hit the "SAVE" button. If you lose "your" sanity - don`t look for it here ! So, what do you think, is this the most important REM of all?, don`t stop drinking, don`t stop eating, and don`t forget to SWITCH OFF occasionally - (both you, and the machine) !

Spamming and COI by Wyrdlight

[edit]

Dear Bob - I see from your talk page that you are being over officious in exercising your new status. The wiki rules about web site links are not as black and white as you suggest and your actions are likely to be detrimental to the concept and founding principles. A mere statement from you "to stop" as you take a zealots view is not acceptable. Perhaps you could describe the process by which your actions can be reviewed by an appropriate peer group. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:12, 4 December 2010 (UTC) Hi Bob - I see you are now victimising me and my contributions in a particularly unpleasant manner. What do you intend to do about the images I have contributed? For example those on the page you have just vandalised? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:14, 4 December 2010 (UTC) Hello Bob - I see your extremely unpleasant victimisation continues without proper recourse to the wiki foundation principles. You are destroying arbitrarily a great deal of work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:17, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

What is unpleasant or harassing about removing spam? You have contributed some good images to Wikpedia and you should be congratulated for that. Unfortunately you have also spammed your own website across many articles and that is clear conflict of interest, something that you have been warned about before. I'm just sorting out what should have been done a long time ago. That's not vandalism it's good housekeeping. --Simple Bob (talk) 20:19, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Actually Bob - there isn't a self-interest and I've worked through this previously with other reviewers its just that you are taking a particularly fascist view and dealing with stuff to the detriment of wiki. As previously requested - what is your position on images that require attribution because everyone of those is a form of self-promotion and many wiki contributors have benefited by having their media used in other sectors of the media. Perhaps you can explain the difference - although I rather think you wont be able to! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:23, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

I do not appreciate being called a fascist, I find that highly offensive. --Simple Bob (talk) 20:26, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Ho Bob - I've just looked at some of the pages you've meddled with and see that your actions are indeed totally arbitrary as you don't seem to be removing links to other web sites that are within your bracket of self-promotion. Well cmon Bob whats the rationale? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:26, 4 December 2010 (UTC) Well up yours as well - you seem to have an extraordinarily hypocritical approach placing that image on your page and then acting as though my contributions are spam. Is that image intended as a comment to me - hardly a christian sentiment or appropriate. You should have that reviewer status removed as you clearly are unable to exercise that authority judiciously. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:29, 4 December 2010 (UTC) Bob - you've removed a link from a page that I created and developed. Is that appropriate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:32, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Read WP:OWN. --Simple Bob (talk) 20:34, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Bob - you've removed a link from the Air Forces Memorial. Without any charge of any kind and in an act of christian charity I send images of the inscriptions at the memorial to people in Australia, Canada etc etc - is that the self promotion that you believe you are dealing with? Is that the kind of spamming you reckon you are obviating? Waht is your definition of self-interest? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:36, 4 December 2010 (UTC) Hey Bob - you've just removed a link to a page which is regarded by INTUTE as an educational resource - how does that stack up as spam and self-interest. Do you believe it helpful to wiki to remove all links to materials that are considered educational? As I said Bob you shouldn't be given authority you can't handle and exercise without thought. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:41, 4 December 2010 (UTC) Bob - well that's another educational resource page link you've removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyrdlight (talkcontribs) 20:54, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Fascism

[edit]

Bob - when I used this term to describe your behaviour I wasn't being insulting but merely factual - if you look it up on wiki you'll see: "Fascism (pronounced /ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology.Fascists seek to organize a nation according to corporatist perspectives, values, and systems, including the political system and the economy." I'm merely saying you are taking an authoritarian and corporatist view of your role. Please would you remove that rather rude and unpleasant "up yours" image from your page. It really is not consistent with any of the values espoused by wiki.

Terriers

[edit]

Hi Simple Bob. Please forgive my newness to Wikipedia. I added the reference because I found JaneDogs a fabulous site (do you agree?) written by an internationally recognized terrier expert. (Also, I've noticed lots of other Wikipedia pages pleading for references and thought this was the right thing to do.) Perhaps if I added some more detail e.g. how the regions influence the characteristics of each Terrier breed) along with the reference, that this would pass your (diligent!) review? Your guidance much appreciated (and again, apologies for not understanding the etiquette of Wikipedia). Thanks...MW Mummy-whale (talk) 05:37, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

It is a poor website with very little content. It seems mostly like a website for promotion of the author's work and DVDs. You added it as a reference for the statement "Most terrier breeds were developed in Great Britain and Ireland", but the site doesn't have any terrier breeds for Ireland. Its breed sections are some of the lightest-weight in terms of content that I have ever seen. The retrievers section, for example, is barely one paragraph and only mentions two breeds. Hardly a reliable source (WP:RS). --Simple Bob (talk) 07:44, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Accusing a good faith experienced editor of ownership, just because your errors are being corrected, is not civil or wise.Charles (talk) 08:59, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
I have reinstated my original comments to this talk page after this edit was made to remove them.[1]. Good faith "errors" were not being corrected but entirely removed. What other comment would be appropriate for four different edit reversions in a row?.Billy from Bath (talk) 09:21, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
The truth of this matter is that factual, spelling and grammar errors were being made to the Dorchester, Dorset article, without any references or sources: that is why they were removed. I would also remind this "editor" that it is entirely proper for a editor to remove content from their Talk page and it is edit warring to reinstate them. Thank you Charles for your entirely correct comments. Regards, David, David J Johnson (talk) 12:14, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

I don't think so ! ..A deliberate act on my part. Don't forget to look after your words carefully , keep the badge nice and shiny and watch out, the shepard will be here soon with your tea ..Ha Ha . Billy from Bath (talk) 17:59, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
I cannot and have not logged in as Francis E Williams nor as Billy from Bath it is not possible as the login logs will show. Every time my router is switched on it issues me with a dynamic host control protol ( DHCP ) controlled account from B>T.'s servers. So the above statement is neither factual or correct. What ever number is seen following this comment is not controlled by me. I would suugest that the user making this comment should accept the fact that (a) a genuine error was made with regard the wrong Thomas Hardy. (The sailor not the novelist. (b) The edit regarding the location of the skate park is correct as regard it is in fact opposite Brewery Square adjacent to the car parks used by the covered markets in Dorchester. The fact that I did not know the name of the road is why the contribution was reverted. No sourses were required for either contribution as they were addition to existing contributions. As the user removed my original comment from his talk page and then failed to notify me that he had in fact made a comment to me. I replied to his comment, as I am rightly allowed to do in a democracy. NOWHERE in this following comment from user David does it state "this is my final comment to you.".

I QUOTE "The truth of this matter is that factual, spelling and grammar errors were being made to the Dorchester, Dorset article, without any references or sources: that is why they were removed. I would also remind this "editor" that it is entirely proper for a editor to remove content from their Talk page and it is edit warring to reinstate them. Thank you Charles for your entirely correct comments. Regards, David, David J Johnson (talk) 12:14, 6 June 2015 (UTC) " unquote

The historical evidence of the talkpage history will show :- Comments 1 and 2 are User Billy, comment 3 is a comment from user Charles, comment 4 is Billy response to Charles. Comment 5 is the one quoted above from user David. Comment 6 is my response to user David. Comment 7 from user David icludes the words "Please stop".

I then posted the following addressed to no one in particular. As it can be seen User David made another "final comment" to user Billy.

User Billy was blocked from replying and replied with an un-logged I.P. address. So the above statement by a senoir editor with admin rights is totallly fabricated to attempt to mislead the reader and to colour the facts. 86.131.4.106 (talk) 18:46, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
