There have been nine air disasters involving sports teams in which two or more members of the same sports team have been killed.

In 1949 most of the Torino A.C. senior squad were killed in a plane crash outside Turin.
In 1950, the entire VVS Moscow team was killed in a air disaster near Sverdlovsk.
In 1956, CFL Players from the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers were killed returning from the All Star game on Trans Canada Flight 810.
In 1958 a number of players of the Manchester United football team were killed in a plane crash in Munich.
In 1961, the entire U.S. figure skating team died in the crash of SABENA Airlines Flight 548 in Brussels, Belgium, while en route to the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia.
In 1970, most of the Marshall University American football team was killed in a plane crash in West Virginia.
In 1987, the entire Alianza Lima team was killed in an air disaster near Lima, Peru.
In 1993, the entire Zambia national football team was killed along with all of their coaching staff and the crew of the airplane in the Zambia national football team air disaster.
