A flag is usually a piece of cloth which has a specific design on it for a specific country. There are many flags throughout the world which have different designs to others. There are also some that look alike. For example, the flags of both Serbia and Brazil don't look like each other at all whereas the flags of Chad and Romania both look identical. Many flags can symbolize different things. The flag of Ireland represents two religions; Catholicism (green) and Protestantism (orange). The white represents peace between the two religions. The main thing that Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark all have in common with their flags is that they all bear the Scandinavian Cross. The oldest flag in the world still in use today is the the flag of Denmark which has been flown since 1625. The most recently changed flag is the flag of Iraq which now bears no stars. The current Iraqi flag was adopted on the 22nd of January 2008. The only flag in the world to have just one colour is the flag of Libya.
