About me

[edit]

I am a soccer player who's been active in this sport since the age of 7. In the future, I plan on having a career in Software Engineering. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, it helps improve my focus on certain activities and motivates.[1] You could say my music choice is diverse, I can listen to just about anything that had a good sound to it, just not country though. It's never appealed to me. When I am not listening to music or doing my school work, I enjoy playing video games. A game I play the most is Call of Duty, I've been playing it since 2010, and would say if it was my main focus, I would have gone pro by now. I have 3 sisters and no brothers, I do have a dog though, so he is like a brother to me since he is family.

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

If I am active on Wikipedia in the future, I plan on helping pages that I am interested in. Since I love soccer, I would contribute some of my knowledge to certain pages. Along with music and video games. Of course, only if I know what I am talking about, I don't want to be giving out false information to the public. I've noticed some pages push the false narrative on several subjects, being bias and all that. I'd be sure that is fixed as well.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

I have always been interested of soccer, also known as football. Something in soccer is indeed needed for playing outdoor, are soccer cleats. My favorite cleats are Nike Mercurial Vapors. I want to see the coverage for these types of cleats made by Nike so, I visited the Nike Mercurial Vapor page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its lack of up to date information, there are some links that no longer work, and also it's lack of structure.

Information Age

[edit]

After looking at the page well, I noticed that is has not been updated in very long. From what it seems like, the last thing to have been added onto this page was from the year 2014. You would think that Nike discontinued the Mercurial category from their soccer cleats, but fortunately, they have not. Nike is still releasing new types of Mercurial cleats in the year. In the page the last version of Mercurials were the Nike Mercurial IV. Since then, a lot of other versions have been released with the newest version being the Mercurial 14. I do not see anything about newer version/colorways on the page.

[edit]

There is a good amount of general references in this page. One link seems to be a dead link but then there's a few sites that lead a 404 error, though. They're cited, but when you click to go onto an external website, a few say that there has been an error, which means the page either does not exist anymore, which would not be good if someone new were to come onto this page and do research about it. There's only a mention the link is dead for the dead link, but not anything about the pages that lead to a 404 error.

Structure

[edit]

The page has a lack of structure. What is meant by that, is there's no information about women soccer players wearing these types of cleats, even though there is women that wear Mercurials. This is important since now, in this day and age, equal rights are something to be thought about and not ignored.

Summary

[edit]

Having all this into account, I would rate the page as "average". The information given provides a fair amount in the background of these cleats, which I believe to be reliable in its time edited. As of now, with it's absence of recent information, it would be hard to get into if you're wanting to know about it's newest releases. Their links that are no longer in service should also be removed, since they are no use to this page, and also it's structure should be updated with a gender-neutral feel, so it can appeal to anyone. It would benefit this page a whole lot if they these things.
