Choctaw Indian Academy was a school established in 1825 in Scott County, Kentucky for the education of the children of the Choctaw Nation. The school was located six miles northwest of Georgetown, Kentucky on property owned by Richard Mentor Johnson, the school's founder and first superintendent. [2] Prior to the the academy's closure in 1843, future leaders of the Choctaw and other Native American Nations were educated at the school. [2]

The property was added to the United States National Register of Historic Places in 1973. [1]

Richard Mentor Johnson established the Choctaw Indian Academy on his estate near Great Crossing, Kentucky on November 1, 1825 under the direction of the United States Department of War. [2]
