Mod (style) in the US Mod in the US had quite a different connotation in the US than the Mod subculture in Britain. Mod was wide belts on striped pants, bell bottoms, mini skirts, tall platic boots, bright colors, paisley print, Nehru jackets, Beatle haircuts, a combination of groovy, hip, psychedelic, Yellow Submarine, The Monkees, Laugh-In, Peter Max, though not exactly hippy style. The majority of people from middle age down accepted this style in some way. There were few negative associations with being mod in the US. It was just the style at the time....
