From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Come out of Babylon is a movement acknowledging the instructions found in The Revelation of John, chapter 18, and specifically, verse 4 of this chapter, which instructs:

"Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive her plagues."

This movement focuses on the application of various elements of the instructions stipulated in JudeoChristian Scripture to be the explicit commandments of YAHOVAH, the deity put forth by both Jews and Christians as the only true deity, and both the Creator and the Redeemer of creation, with the first written instruction of YAHOVAH as the fundamental basis for the movement:

"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me." [Exodus 20:1-2]

The foundational principle of the Come out of Babylon movement is the abandonment of traditions, the observance of which would intermix recognition of other gods into the worship of the Hebrew God YAHOVAH, who is described as the Creator and the Redeemer of all creation. This abstinence from certain ceremonies and observations does not include abstaining from ceremonies instructed by YAHOVAH to be performed by those serving Him, rather that any corruption of the instructions of YAHOVAH be removed from practise. Examples include the Catholic changes of timing in the Hebrew Passover celebration (recognized by Christians also as the timing of the death, burial and resurrection of the man Yehoshua of Nazareth, known by Christians as the Moshiach, or Hebrew Messiah) to align with dates, the use of which traditionally recognizes deities of Babylon, having passed through various cultures and later promulgated worldwide by Catholic tradition.
