Evaluating Articles and Sources:

Primarily, there are 5 points to consider:

  1. A lead section that gives an easy-to-understand overview
    • Provides a good summary/ introduction to the article
    • Information is relevant to the subject (i.e. lead section should differ for people/locations/theories/etc.)
  2. A clear structure
    • Well formatted
    • Subheadings are in logical order
  3. Balanced coverage
    • Covers all related aspects
    • Most relevant/important information is given appropriate attention
  4. Neutral content
    • Coverage of the subject is either objective or presents several perspectives to remain neutral
  5. Reliable sources
    • Sources are trustworthy
    • Information from sources is direct (i.e. not an extrapolation based on the source)
