User:Flatscan/RfC draft: Restoring to merge after deletion at AfD
Appearance
Please do not edit this draft. I would like to minimize the number of users that must be attributed when it is posted at WT:Articles for deletion. Please do comment at the talk page. Flatscan (talk) 04:52, 1 May 2011 (UTC) |

Following an article's deletion at WP:Articles for deletion, what is the proper process for restoring its page history to merge to another article? ~~~~
- Restoring is completely uncontroversial. Any admin, including one who participated in the AfD, may restore.
- Restoring is uncontroversial, but the article should be restored by an uninvolved admin or WP:Requests for undeletion to avoid the appearance of impropriety.
- Userfication (WP:Userfication#Userfication of deleted content) or incubation is uncontroversial, but restoring in article space – including as a redirect – requires discussion.
- All restorations should be handled consistently, regardless of reason or namespace: consult with closing admin and escalate to WP:Deletion review if necessary.
Opinions are numbered for reference. Feel free to work from or ignore them.
Closing admins sometimes "preauthorize" restoration by including statements like "any admin may restore" or "if anyone wants the history restored for merging, let me know".
