Who is the Church of the Final Sabbath and why do we we do? Philippians 3:20-21 underscores the profound truth that our true citizenship is in heaven, emphasizing that our ultimate allegiance is to God rather than to the flawed and temporary governments of this world. This heavenly citizenship highlights the fallibility of human authority, which is inherently limited by the sinful nature of humanity. In contrast, God's rule is eternal, perfect, and just, offering a stark reminder that our true home and government are in God's holy kingdom.

As fallen beings, humans lack the right or capacity to rule justly, and any human government is inherently subordinate to God's divine authority. Laws and statutes that contradict God's will are ultimately invalid in the eyes of believers. This understanding could support the idea of a temporary theocracy, where God's laws are upheld as closely as possible until the return of Christ. At that time, Jesus will assume His rightful place as the ruler, bringing an end to the current age of human governance and establishing His perfect kingdom.

The concept of the Millennial Reign of Christ—a thousand-year "Sabbath"—further illustrates this idea. Just as the weekly Sabbath represents a day of rest following six days of labor, the Millennial Reign symbolizes a period of divine rest, peace, and rule following the laborious history of human governance. This reign of Christ is seen as a time of completion and restoration, where God's perfect will is fully realized on earth.
