Open access in congo; Researchers from Congo publish articles in international Open Access journals, for example in 2013, 45 articles have been published with BioMed Central – an STM (Science, Technology and Medicine) publisher which has pioneered the Open Access publishing model – and among them there are highly accessed articles by researchers from Centre d'Etudes des Resources Vegetales, Makélékélé Hospital, Médecins sans Frontières, National Malaria Control Programme – Division for Disease Control, Ministry of Health, and WHO Regional Office for Africa.
As indicated by OA policy registries such as ROARMAP and SHERPA/JULIET, there exists a need to establish and implement national and institutional OA policies in Congo to create a national system that will ensure that all publicly funded research is freely and openly available. This will also ensure that the academic community of Congo is not left behind in the global OA movement.
As of June 2015, there is one OA journal published in Congo which is indexed in DOAJ (Revue Medicale des Grands Lacs (2013)). In April 2015, one OA journal was added to ROAD: Revue Congolaise de Gestion (1997).
