User:Fiftytwo thirty/Denied CSD Proposals

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It seems like there is almost always a discussion at WT:CSD to add a new CSD criteria. The vast majority of those proposals are never realized, and frequently requested again. Thus I have created this page to track those proposals. Feel free to add to it. The proposals in the links section should be organized chronologically, oldest to newest, and only be added if they are relevant. If a Letter/Number code was associated with the proposal, it is listed.

The three most common reasons for not implementing these proposals are:

  1. Too subjective, would require admins to make judgment calls. Not "uncontestable."
  2. Too broad, would delete articles that are salvageable or should have never been deleted in the first place
  3. Does not occur frequently enough to warrant a separate criterion.

Before proposing a new criterion, see the below frequently rejected discussions.

A7 Extensions

[edit]

A7 was designed to deal with a select few articles that occurred very often and were rarely notable. A7 is perhaps the most subjective CSD criteria, and it is thus limited to a small scope. Many attempts have been made to expand its scope, and almost all have failed.

Software

[edit]

Add software to the list of eligible criteria for A7.

Schools

[edit]

Schools have been historically exempt from A7, see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Schools/Criteria for Speedy Deletion A7

A9 extensions

[edit]

Like A7, A9 is fairly subjective, but deals with Albums, articles often redirected to the artists' page. These extensions generally are for pages that often would end up as a redirect if not notable.

Creative works

[edit]

Delete articles about Films, books, video games, and other creative works that do not assert importance and where there the page for the author does not exist.

Products

[edit]

Delete articles about products, including software but excluding creative works (books, films) that do not assert importance and where the page for the company does not exist. Some people have suggested that products fall under A7, others A9.

Variants of WP:NOT

[edit]

General Discussion of WP:NOT as a CSD criterion. Generally dismissed as too broad.
