User:Fgrannis About Me. I am a retired thoracic surgeon from Southern California with almost 50 years experience in the care of patients with disease caused by tobacco products. During this time I have become convinced that treatment of lung cancer is not the answer, but that devotion of resources to primary prevention of smoking, smoking cessation assistance and early detection of disease caused by cigarettes is a more effective approach. With these goals in mind, I have participated in lung cancer screening research for the past 19 years and participated in a number of national guideline groups in tobacco control and lung cancer screening. Fgrannis (talk) 03:57, 19 June 2017 (UTC) My work: I no longer practice clinical medicine, but continue participation in research with the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (IELCAP), an international consortium of more than 70 screening centers developing consensus guideline algorithms to enhance the safety and effectiveness of computerized tomographic screening. I assist the Lung Cancer Alliance, a patient advocacy group in Washington D.C. with their Centers of Excellence program. I participate in a small group working to translate research findings in lung cancer screening into public policy and population clinical practice. I also participate in IELCART, a new international, multi-center single-arm prospective data base centered at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, to examine results of treatment of small, early-stage lung cancers using various modalities with a goal of understanding and refining such treatment.Fgrannis (talk) 04:09, 19 June 2017 (UTC) I have provided paid expert witness testimony in medical monitoring lawsuits against Philip Morris Corp.
