According to the study "The relationship between Facebook and Instagram appearance-focused activities and body image concerns in young women" the total amount of time on social networking sites (SNS) did not affect body image. Rather greater interaction with photo activities were connected to greater thin-ideal internalization and body surveillance. So the using of social media sites that have less to do with simply posting images of oneself will cultivate less body monitoring within its users.
