George Angel is an innovative writer, painter, playwright, and musician. He is the director of the theater group Parpado Teatro and a member of the musical ensemble Underflavour. Angel was born in San Francisco in 1964 to Columbian parents. He studied at the University of California and is the recipient of a Wallace Stegner Fellowship from Stanford University. Angel's writing has been widely published in literary journals such as Exile, Sulfur, The Iowa Review, and Quarterly West, among others. He is the author of the Beckett-like collection of stories The Fifth Season (Fiction Collective Two) and has published four collections of poetry and one collection of plays in Spanish under the name Mario Angel Quintero. He currently resides in Medellin, Colombia.
