The colosseum

The colosseum is a famous structure built for gladiator fights but today the colosseum is a tourist attraction bringing 6 million people per year. They started building it in 70 AD and finished in 80 AD, the colosseum is 620 feet long,512 feet wide and 158 feet tall. It was built with limestone, wood, tuff, tiles, cement and mortar. The colosseum is one of the oldest historical structures still standing, it is 1951 years old. Do to the bricks being stacked it has caused a lot of internal force. The colosseum has endured earthquakes, floads, rainfall, windstorms and other external elements.Three facts I find interesting about the colosseum, the colosseum appers on the back side of Italy's first five cent coin, the south side of the colosseum collapsed in a massive earthquake in 847 and the very first games at the colosseum were in 80 AD by emporperor titus they lasted 100 days and there were over 3000 gladiator fights during that time.
