[edit]Outline of proposed changes
[edit]The original Planctomycetaceae article only mentions that it is a family of bacteria with a phylogenic tree to provide a visual reference of its evolutionary lineage. Nothing else is provided.
When classifying organisms, it is important to know more than just 16S rRNA sequencing to determine its taxonomic relations; what characteristics can define this family? What is unique to this group that makes it belong in its own family/class/phylum? There is plenty of that information available where even just three articles alone can provide more information than what the current article demonstrates. Changes should be focused on expanding the idea on what classifies this family of bacteria.
- Cover what is unique in the larger groups, then add more as the selection narrows:
- Phylum Characteristics >>> Class Characteristics >>> Family Characteristics
- Discuss the ecology of these organisms:
- Where are they located? What niche do they cover? Are there any microbial interactions?
